I am not a big blue grass guy but this kid is killing it right now. We have seen him twice this year and have tickets for the New Years Eve show in Grand Rapids, MI.

If you get the chance, GO!

Most of his tour dates are instant sell outs! He is still playing smaller venues for now. I would imagine after this years festivals that he is playing, this will change. By far one of the toughest tickets to score right now.

My wife and I are selling everything and going on tour to follow Billy ... Holy $hit, my guess is that Billy won New Years Eve. What an incredible show. He is absolutely killing it and Billy most certainly "gets it".

If you get the chance, run, don't walk to the nearest Billy Strings show. We are dialed into Louisville and Ft. Wayne for upcoming shows and are now considering Merlefest for Spring Break.

And no, we are not really going to sell everything and go on tour ... but I wish I could.

Billy Strings has become the hottest guitarist on the newgrass and jamband scene right now. His shows are selling out all over the country as he plays everything from bluegrass to more psychedelic fare. Roosterwalk Festival has twice hired Billy to do a jam with Marcus King and the Greyfox Festival has brought him in as Artist-at-Large to jam with many during that event.

Last year, I first interviewed Billy Strings for the Grammy Award folks in Los Angeles. Recently, I just did my second interview with him. The majority of my interview with Billy Strings will be featured in the upcoming February edition of the still-rocking Bluegrass Unlimited Inc. magazine where you can find my best work there in every issue - so please subscribe here - bluegrassmusic.com. In that interview, I bring in Del Mccoury, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon and Sam Bush to talk about Billy's phenomenal talent and rise.

Here is Part One of my new interview with Billy Strings;

Billy Strings grew up loving Doc Watson and we highlight that here in the Mountain Times in Boone where Doc's stature resides on King Street. Billy is coming to the 2020 MerleFest, and is also jamming with Bryan Sutton at the Station Inn on Jan 8 streaming live.

Here is Billy warming up with the great Bryan Sutton - https://www.facebook.com/billystrings1/videos/2255456844746888/

Here is the video of Billy Strings at Brooklyn Bowl jamming with another young guitar phenom in Brandon “Taz” Niederauer;

The NYE show was great. Probably will be the last time he plays that building. Living in West Michigan I got to see him plenty of times over the years and am happy with his current success.

"Billy Strings does things on the guitar that aren’t possible from a physical or theoretical standpoint,” Saving Country Music gushed at the time. “He’s like the psilocybin of music, taking you places you thought weren’t accessible in the conscious world, and all while making it look so effortless. Billy Strings is best musician you will witness live in our generation. This is one of those moments where we’re witness an artist blow up right before our very eyes."
