I know the all-star lineup but don't know who the drummer is. Anyone? John was my favorite Beatle but I always wondered why he felt a need to get this acidic in his criticism of Paul. Some of it seemed to originate from his own ego: "You must have learned something in all those years". Wow........

Well they(J & P) were going through a messy breakup/"divorce" after what? Close to 13 yrs of being almost constantly around each other..They both had big egos.

They were bitching at each other for all the world to see.

A JL quote sited in the article.

quote:
John Lennon: "If I can't have a fight with my best friend I don't know who I can have a fight with. I think it's quite funny and I was laughing when we were making it and listening to it. I was laughing at his later, but first I was saying, 'Oh, I see, that's what he thinks,' huffing and puffing."

Read the lyrics to the PM songs mentioned in the article.."Too many people" definitely reads like a big middle finger aimed Lennon.

McCartney's "3 Legs", "Too Many People", Harrison's "Wah Wah", Lennon's "How Do You Sleep" and a few select others were all in the same vein. It was three artists who were frustrated with each other finding the main outlet that they knew to get that frustration out. They beat the hip hop diss tracks by 20 years.

Even Ringo kinda got into it with the song "Early 1970". When he describes George and John he talks about how they will play with him, but with Paul it was "I wonder if he'll play with me". That's as acidic as Ringo could get.
