Supersonic Blues Machine (feat Warren Haynes) - Remedy (Official Video)
Supersonic Blues Machine aren't about to let summer come to an end. Bassist and producer Fabrizio Grossi calls the band's new album, Californisoul, "the missing soundtrack to a summertime drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 1971."
The band -- which includes Grossi, guitarist and singer Lance Lopez and drummer Kenny Aronoff -- invited an all-star cast to join them for the ride. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons offered an inspirational hand of support when the group first came together, guesting on their 2016 debut album. He's back for a second round, this time helping write "Broken Heart" while adding his signature guitar into the mix. Blues rockers Eric Gales, Robben Ford and Walter Trout are just a few of the other musicians making encore appearances on Californisoul.
Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, a longtime friend of the band, stepped in to offer his services on "Hard Times," which you can listen to above. It's an exclusive premiere.
“Musically , this song is a voyage. It’s like a meditation session with all his transitions and thoughts deconstructed that culminate in the final release," Grossi tells Ultimate Classic Rock. "Luke is the therapist guiding us through it. It could not have been another brother doing this with SBM, since together we fought so many similar battles throughout the years . As a songwriter and a producer, I consider this among the best music I’ve ever put my hands on, and as a friend ... well, just listen to Luke tearin’ it up, and you’ll understand why I love him so much. It goes beyond the notes.”
"Fabrizio, Kenny and I go way back and have played together many times," Lukather says. "I love and respect all the guys involved and I love playing a little blues. This was a no-brainer. I was honored to be asked to be a small part of this cool band."
Grossi calls "Hard Times" "the true soundtrack of what’s going on today in our lives. Collectively, we are empowered to navigate the world as it gets more confusing and lost by the hour.
"Whoever is supposed to make things better, is actually doing quite the opposite - but if we made it this far, for how hard that it is, it will not be a problem: Bring it on, this guy here can handle it," he continues. "But not before you stop punishing yourself for what you are, for how good you are, for how much good you did and will do, and for how much more determination you have when everybody else around is shutting you down."
Californisoul will be released on Friday. Fans can pre-order the new album now, choosing from a variety of bundles that are available. Tour dates will be announced soon.
