I just came across this a few minutes ago. I'd never heard any of this and I'm not sure how true it is but it's fascinating nonetheless.

I did not listen to this though I glanced at it a bit. But I remember Axl being at the Beacon show and I also remember when Derek told about him coming on the Derek Trucks Band tour bus and playing Chinese Democracy for them before it came out.

Gregg and Slash dated the same girl and there was fear of some awkwardness if they saw eachother at the Stern studio. Always some funny parts within stories like these.

Sure Axl may've wanted Derek, don't see why Derek would've wanted GNR.

I just saw GNR a few weeks ago. They were very good and Axl sounded strong. Believe it or not the show was almost too long, close to 3 hours nonstop, first time I've complained about that I think. Good night and good performance though.

Can't say I could see Derek fitting in with GnR. Was never much of a GnR fan, but have come around just recently. Got tickets to their Sirius XM concert at The Apollo Theatre here in NYC back in late July and that really changed my perspective. I had gone to see them for the first time in 2016 with 60,000 or so others at Met Life Stadium in Jersey and it was big and entertaining on a hot summer night. Seeing them in the 1,500 seat Apollo from the front row of the first balcony where they did pretty much the same 30+ song setlist was a whole new experience and I loved it (not the ABB of course, but real enjoyable rock & roll). With that experience very fresh in my mind and having seen Derek so many times, I just don't see that as a match. Will be seeing GnR again in October at MSG on a Monday after seeing Derek & Susan at the Beacon on Friday and Saturday.
