Name Some songs (no more than ten) that make you think of high school every time you hear them. You don't have to like them they just remind you of high school.

Argent; Hold your Head Up
Steely Dan; Reelin in the Years and Do it Again
Guess Who; Mama Told Me Not to Come
Stealers Wheels; Stuck in the Middle with You
Rolling Stones; Brown Sugar
Emerson Lake and Palmer; Hoedown
ABB; Hot Lanta
Yes; Roundabout

Schools Out reminds me of middle school because I was really into Alice Cooper then.

I graduated high school in 1993, so:

Back to the Hotel - N2Deep
Detachable Penis - King Missile
Smells Like Teen Spirit - or anything off of Nevermind
F*ck with Dre - or anything off the Chronic
Three Little Pigs - Green Jello
Hip Hop Hooray - or anything off of 19Naughty3
Sad But True - Metallica

Those songs all got played a lot. The music improved as we got a little older.

That was the most famous version, but it was actually written by Randy Newman for Eric Burdon's first solo album (of all things). Randy Newman actually recorded a version with Ry Cooder on slide. I always dug Wilson Pickett's version myself.

I didn't necessarily like all these songs, but i associate them with specific events from back in the day:

Heard it through the grapevine (CCR version) - played while going over 100mph down a dirt road in Dave Smith's Cadillac
I'd like to make it with you (Bread) - very effective on dates
House of the rising sun (Eric Burdon) - 1st slow dance that I remember
Room to move (John Mayall) - smoking weed under the Mt. Laurel tower
You don't love me (ABB) - 1st time hearing the ABB while eating pizza in Jimmy's basement
The pusher (Steppenwolf) - watching Easy Rider alone in a theater immediately after breaking up with girlfriend (can't remember her name)
The fever (Springsteen) - played endlessly on WMMR during the summer of 1974. OK, I was a couple years out of HS but it still brings back strong memories

Puffy and Faith Evan -- Missing You. That song was everywhere my senior year.

Third Eye Blind -- Semi-Charmed Life

Somehow, those are the only two that jump to mind, so they must have dominated the air waves.

Hey Baby (Will You Be My Girl) -- Always my favorite song that the band would play during football games. The whole crowd would sing along. It was great.

And, going further back . . . Boyz II Men -- End of the Road takes me to Jr. High where it was played at every dance.

Wow. Never knew that. I gotta dig up that Newman/Cooder version for sure. Wilson Pickett's will probably be cool too.
