Amazon pre order is up ! November 6th ! Don' let the bloated price scare you, typical Amazon practice. That price will drop like a stone.

Yes, but...

" The Liz Reed alternate take is studio and it is much slower than the one everyone is familiar with..It is really cool... " - a friend of Bill's that got to hear this at Bill's home.

There is a version of "One More Ride" with Gregg on vocals that has not been officially released. Maybe that will be will be included on the reissue. The version with vocals is a bit muddied so it would have to be cleaned up for official release. If an archival concert is included on the reissue, I would nominate the May 2, 1970 show from Swarthmore, Pa. Includes two songs from "Idlewild South" and a varied set list with lead vocals from Duane on "Dimples" and Berry on "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Oh, Pretty Woman."

I would readily 2nd that njwolf, IF the current source material was worth putting the effort into to improve the sound enough -- don't have this one anymore (sound not the best), but as you said, also, the horns on Liz Reed & St.Mndy really add A Lot & make it the varied type show it is

Is there enough material from the IS sessions to "fill" a separate CD of alts and outtakes, ala the Brothers & Sisters box set? I thought there might be enough to maybe tack onto the original album, which is only 31 minutes.

Stephen,
I found two versions of the May 2, 1970 show on YouTube. I think this one has the better sound quality:

Duane sounds in a good mood when he talks in between songs.

Someone at Hoffman noticed the Japanese version of this lists the word " garage " as the second and third CD content, and we're thinking it might be Ludlow's Garage ?

If so, hopefully it's not a re-release of the Ludlow's show that is already out.

Can't imagine they would do this even if only because there's only one track, Hoochie Coochie Man, on Ludlow's Garage that appears on Idlewild South. I'd like to think they'd pick a live show that has more songs from the album on it.

I saw the text that accompanied that Japanese release and most of the text was nonsense. I guess due to a very poor language conversion tool. Only real English word was indeed "Garage" but i doubt that text has any significance. Would not make much sense to re-release those same Ludlow Garage recordings as bonus tracks.
Time will tell.

Japanese info: 3CDs SHM & 1 Blu Ray Audio

DISC1: " Isle de Wild South " remastered
DISC2 / 3: Raddoro garage Live
DISC4: " Isle de Wild South " BLU-RAY AUDIO

" Ludlow remastered w Liz Reed added. Blu Ray for 5.1 mix and high res stereo. "

Well, to be honest that's a major bummer. No new unheard professional live recordings from the vaults (isn't there really nothing left?) but a re-release of Ludlow Garage, a recording that the vast majority of peachheads already owns. And that added "Liz Reed" has been available on bootlegs and in the trading community for ages.
From the "Ludlow Garage" show only "Liz Reed" and "Hoochie Coochie Man" could also be found in their studio version on "Idlewild South" while 3 songs were from their debut album. Therefor "Ludlow Garage" would have been more suitable for bonus discs for a deluxe edition of their debut. Too bad that the ABB archives / vaults appear to be so empty or that there are neverending legal matters obstructing the release of some real gems.

That's very disappointing about the live material. So much potential there.

What about this infamous 60-minute version of `Mountain Jam' from 1970 that I've been
hearing about for years? Couldn't they have put that on a disc in this set? Timeline is
certainly right....

There could be a lot of issues at hand:

1. Lack of quality recordings from this era?
b Lack of ownership by who is releasing this set of any live shows?
III- Lack of planning/effort?
4) Someone stepped in and was ok with that being the show since the public already has it and it wouldn't be new mistakes being brought to the public. (since apparently someone blocks releases due to not wanting mistakes being released)

My guess is, they just don't have a lot of quality audio that is actually owned by the band or by the label releasing it. I could be wrong and someone who knows (RobJohnson, Alan Paul) please correct me if I am, but the band itself has little to nothing to do with these types of release as they own almost nothing of their back catalog due to bad early record deals.

Does anyone actually know how many shows were even recorded by the ABB back in the 70's? It seems like much fewer than we think.

Either way, it is greatly disappointing that the live show on this release is something that pretty much all of us already have.

As far as 60 minute Mountain Jams and 4 and 5 hour shows, my guess is those are things of myth and exaggeration.

Well, regarding Mountain Jam it's not a myth and only a mild exaggeration since it's "only" approx. 55 minutes: http://abbdiscography.duaneallman.info/cdrdecatur05231970.htm

Peach Cobbler Vol. 6 ("Mountain Jam") has this on it:
1. Mountain Jam intro > (8:10)
2. drums > (5:27)
3. Berry bass solo > (8:34)
4. Mountain Jam > (5:10)
5. Will The Circle Be Unbroken > (5:46)
6. Bo Diddley > Spacey jam > (11:48)
7. Mountain Jam > (2:28)
8. Rock and Roll jam > (2:31)
9. Mountain Jam finale (5:03)

10. encore intro (0:49)
11. Don't Want You No More > (2:21)
12. It's Not My Cross To Bear (5:20)

I'm not stating that these recordings could qualify for being included as bonus tracks for a deluxe release but merely as a reply to your above statement regarding myths/exaggerations.
