That knocked me cold...........one of the best versions of I'm No Angel I've ever heard. This new band just NAILS it, and Gregg is in fine form vocally.

It seems Gregg always plays this, I've seen GA & Friends around a dozen times. I've seen his band struggle through this tune 15 years ago. The tempo is tricky, but man, this band's got it down.

I have kinda mentioned this before about this tune, but it does not really fit the flow of the setlist IMHO. Sounds out of place with the rest of the material, kinda dated in a way . I know its his big "pop" hit, but I think they should re work it or drop it. When I was surfing on the internet icame across this:

"Watch Gregg Allman's New Stirring Live Performance of 'I'm No Angel'"

I thought ,wow, maybe they are doing a different version, acoustic, blusey etc...
pretty standard. The horns I guess give it a different feel.

I get what you are saying. It always reminds me of glossy 80's overproduced stuff. But if you frame it in the context of someone seeing GA occasionally or never, and these folk want the biggest hits. For GA solo, that means Midnight Rider and Angel, and Mellissa. So I get every show including those. Most people want those that go, I believe. Regular fans who have seen him a dozen times, I get it....

Another way I frame it is that this may be the last time I see the man, one never knows. Either he or I may keel over at this point So gimme the chestnuts with a bit of new.

Not bad. I'm just not a huge Scott Sharrard fan. Is the guy on keys the same dude that's on Live From Darryl's house?

IMO too many horns & not enough guitar(s).
Wish he'd assemble a lean mean band like he had with the Tolers & Co in the 80s.

in the "got to bitch about something" category - the constant changing of camera angles/shots makes almost every concert video almost unwatchable to me. A quick count - 19 different changes during the first sixty seconds of I'm No Angel.

One of the reasons Stevie Ray Vaughan - Live in Japan is the single greatest concert video I've ever seen.

Agree on both.

Yes I am. I was going to see him at the Birchmere but going to Richmond is much, much easier.

Plus, I was able to score a pit seat when I was at the Carpenter for Brit Floyd.

I'm looking forward to the show.

You?

Aw disagree, this band is hot! That 80s band was, well, a little too 80s, and they were playing horn parts with another keyboard. I really wish I could find the "Can't Keep Running" video (co-written by Michael Bolton!) which is essentially Gregg camping out like a cowboy and singing from the M*A*S*H set. It was up a couple of days ago, but I assume Gregg hired one person to diligently do nothing other than remove it from the internet each day.

I wouldn't mind if Gregg kept more of his solo material in the set list (this Macon album includes more than most of his solo performances of late), but I imagine that he's added a lot of the ABB songs to keep them afloat without the ABB touring.

Not sure about Daryl's house, but I don't mind Sharrard. He is a little too crunchy sometimes, but he fits this band pretty well.

I agree with everything you have said. I LOVE the current band, especially the horns, and I've always dug Sharrard's playing. I wish people would give a little more respect to our icon who selects his own band: Mr. Allman.
PS: Marc Quinones adds some nice touches.
