I have a one disc ABB show from 1970 that I can't identify.

It should be fairly identifiable because the 3rd track is a blistering 15 minute "Black Hearted Woman" that has to be the longest one ever played!...The show in general is pretty crappy quality and a couple of tunes cut in and out but its worth having just for that one song! Anyone know that date...and do better copies exist? It includes only the 2nd half of Mtn Jam...kind of strange...

Thanks buddies!

Eddie,

That tape seems a tad too "fast" to my ears. But the Black Hearted Woman is quite unique.

Yes "unique" is the word I'd use...In fact I've never heard another one quite like it with that long twisting spacey bluesy jam at the end...

I had forgotten about that 7/19/70 show. I used to have a copy of it but I think I might have trashed it. I list 7/17/70 as a two disc show. I know that at one point I tried to work a bit on the speed of some of 7/19/70, but the sound was still so awful that I just gave up. It sounded like crap when I got it, and I certainly couldn't improve it. You have me curious now. I will have to check to see if I even still have a copy. I think some of you have passed the true fan test to have found anything of merit on that recording. So, there is a unique version of Black Hearted Woman? A fifteen minute version of Black Hearted Woman, and I might have TOSSED my cdr copy? damn.

Must not have made it through the speed/pitch filters in your secret agent headphones.

Don't worry yurtle, I'm not about to start a "finsky remaster series" anytime soon.

*Say what you please ron, but 7/19/70 is a god awful recording. It is one of those shows that only exists for historical purposes. It is only for the very serious abb collector. *

Dean, it ain't THAT bad. Heard worse recorded things before, & enjoyed it.

There were a couple of times when I almost threw that disc in the garbage because of the awful sound quality....and then...I hear the Black Hearted Woman>Jam and I say, no way man, that sh!t smokes! So I literally keep it for one tune. That actually isn't like me, I like collecting the best of the best so I'm not one that needs every single show ever recorded. .I will never be confused with PhillyBob for example who has every show under the sun...I just can't toss this one though... Its just different - in a really good way. This recording is terrible though...oh well. I'll live with it

I believe its a half-step too fast...meaning one note. when I try to play along on the guitar everything is one fret higher.

peace

Hey Eddie, your copy missing the LMBAH? On my copy, I am sure there was pretty cool version of it from the same show.

After checking my copy goes like this...

Trouble No More
DKM Wonderin
Black Hearted Woman>Jam
Leave My Blues...
Stormy Monday

Then 7 minutes of completely garbled sh!t that sounds like 2 or 3 different songs that I can't make out...just a mess...sounds like it was thrown in the wash then dried out or something.

...thats the whole disc... you're mileage may vary...
