ahhh...sorry to butt in with still ANOTHER public service announcement, but regarding those going to the first Beacon Weekend:

there will be an informal meeting of people who are into trading and those who wish to learn how to get in on B&P's and stuff. this will be in the Hospitality Sweeties Suite and is gonna be Saturday, 3/20 about 2-ish. BYOB.

I'm bringing a bunch of shows to trade, and a laptop with a burner....

Left over jello shots, and alka-seltzer, will be served.

end transmission.

Can you PLEASE have samples of AUDIO discs so people can see the difference?

I keep getting a TON of datas, including some today from a guy I would have thought knew the difference.

End rant.

Aren't we paranoid today?

No, Vinny, not you.

I know I agreed to swap yours.

One or two is no big deal. But when I offer three shows for 25 people and 1/3 send the wrong blanks.......

You need to send Clay a bunch of shows with bad dates on them or hell just send him your list with some bad dates on it. You might get to see your name at the top of his list with another of his favorite traders

Oh, damn...Ron, that wasn't me was it?

I've got two stacks of T-Y Maxells, one CDR-Pro and the other audio...I didn't switch 'em, did I?

I had a bad feeling that I did when I was sorting through my supplies...

thanks to everyone who will be there, and to those who are offering advice or sending disks for the event.

YES, i will hold up an audio disk and a data disk and make the disclaimer: "People with stand alone burners require audio disks. if a person doing you a favor asks for them, comply or step aside."

Then i will enter my dennis miller-esque rant that goes something like: "Even though they are all a plan, by the man, to make you secrety pay royalties to artists that dont even allow trading, so only use them for people who request them".

hows that?

Maybe I should have worded that differently.

Now everyone who got in on the last three offers thinks I'm ragging on them.

I just have an over flowing 50+ stack of datas, and that's AFTER I sent a bunch to Clay for him to use.

The most frustrating part of this we have discussed before. The lack of knowledge of your average retail clerk. If you ask for audio discs for burning music, you seldom get the correct info as far as data vs. audio.

Or at least that's what I assume.

Too bad the McNichol site doesn't have pictures of each.

I guess the key point is that unless the disc is a Fuji All-Purpose, it has to have the word MUSIC or AUDIO on the disc itself.

The white Maxells are the best example. The data disc says Maxell CD-R.

The audio version says Maxell CD-R. And above that says MUSIC.

Next up:

TAO, What's All the Fuss? with guest speaker.......

Nevermind.

I wish. They're to wide, too light, too thin, and I heard they shatter.

And with the exception of the Verbaim discs that look like records, they aren't black.

Ron, i will make it a point to show off what a Music cd is, and isnt. assuming anyone there doesnt know; i dont want to confuse the rookies too much. liquor will be involved after all.

anyone who needs to ask their store clerk what kind of disks too buy is probably in need of more help then figuring out which type of disk to use.
