Yeah Brock I think your word - solid - is a perfect representation of tonight's show.

I urge folks not to read into that there were not spectacular hights. The "Dreams" and "Whipping Post" were both pushed as far as they could be pushed. But the musicians doing the pushing are simply the best at what they do.

I was taken to great heights. There were a couple times in the first set where I was on the verge of being overwhelmed.

I was never, not for a moment underwhelmed.

My high expectations were met.

Just back from an amazing night. Simply did NOT want it to end. Second set was spectacular in my book. What a difference from last Wednesday. Brilliant, dignified and mind bending.......I left there in awe.

AWE-some full color video/photo collage during encore of so much Duane and Berry (and even some of Mr. Betts -- didn't know he ever played a double neck) with Derek and Warren juxtaposed. AWE-stounding. Would LOVE a video of that ... blueray coming of these last 2 nights? ... please? ... pretty please?

Did you stop French at O Level, Jim?!!!

French for "The Brothers" is "Les Frères."

"Brers" is Creole/ Cajun argot for brothers, as I understand it (they didn't teach Creole or Cajun at Eastwood High!). Think of Brer Rabbit. The correct pronunciation is "Lay Brerr" (silent "s").

First I've heard of there being an intended play on words.

Great reviews of the show!

Les Brers:

LES - the French article (les = THE)

BRERS - Think of those southern, Uncle Remus characters -b'rer fox et al. "B'rer" - southern negro dialect for BROTHER

so, Les B'rers - sort of a French twist on southern negro (African American) folk lore.

By the way: "Uncle Remus" was a literary invention of Joel Chandler Harris - who borrrowed (plagiarized or stole) these stories from the African Americans that worked on the farms that he grew up on.

But please - return to the recaps of the show!

What's with High Cost getting cut again? That's the 2nd time this run

Hopefully they're saving one of the best songs they've ever written for tonite!

No it didn't go past midnight. 15 minute WP ended about 11:33, but I didn't look at the time again during the break or N1TRW.

Very happy with the show last night. Gregg was as good as I've seen him at any time the last 5 years. Very strong and on point. His earpiece fell out during the second verse of N1TRW so he missed a few words (predictably), but it doesn't matter Gregg was really really great all night, always came in on time without Derek or Warren having to buy him some time or anything.

YDLM was fairly short, but very good.

I felt like the second set stole the show.

They did some drums during LB. It went like LB>Derek leading into will the circle be unbroken>LB>drums>LB

Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home was outstanding for reasons previously mentioned. Awesome spotlight for Marc, that song was fantastic. Oteil on this song too.

Dreams was killer.

WP was just amazing. I have no idea if they will play it again tonight, but if not Warren and Derek sent their final run through of it on fire - very intense.

Love the N1TRW encore. It was more the typical N1TRW, not the extra extended version they had done, but outstanding either way.

From a setlist perspective you couldn't tell that it was the 2nd to last show, I really like that they didn't feel the need to squeeze in this favorite/hit or that one, and I am happy about that. I'm happy they are still doing the covers and some seldomly played songs like they have always done. And the playing by the band is outstanding. I read some reviews from the previous shows and I have to admit I have not always been overwhelmed by some of the shows I've seen. Having said that last night left me very fulfilled and happy with the entire show.

That stage setlist doesn't show Midnight Rider, which they played after That's What Love Can Make You Do (as posted in the thread). So they audibled out of High Cost for that due to time I suppose. Set break was about 9:37-9:38. They came back out around 10:15-10:17 I think.

I have been to about 50 Beacon shows over the past 20 years and this was one of my all time favorites! At multiple times during the show the guitar work was ferocious - maybe as intense as I have ever seen.

Can't really add more to the reviews. I'm totally satisfied if that's the last time I'll see them. I savored every note and it was the show I knew they had in them and been waiting for since 3/26/09. Not that I've seen clunkers in between but the mojo X factor was in play. Great crowd also. Gonna miss it this.

Re, skipping High Cost of Low Living twice; it's possible Gregg's vocals/breath aren't up to do it yet, they might be saving it for tonight or as has been said, it was a time issue.

High Cost and Desdemona have vocals that require Gregg's best voice/lungs; tough spots exist where he has to hit the note right or we'll hear it blatantly flat/sharp because the music is quiet. Both are newer songs for him, so unlike Midnight Rider which he can probably sing in his sleep, and which has backup vocals as well, they only get played when Gregg is fully able to pull it off.

What an amazing night such mixed feelings, predicted Nobody Left To Run With as encore and brought tears to my eyes that its all ending tonight.

Just a smoking show. Not much else to say. Les Brers, Dreams and WP in one set!!! WOW

One criticism.- Butch could have dressed a little better for the evening than that idiotic yellow shirt he was wearing. LOL

Is Whipping Post being played with the key change to D during the first part of Warren's solo during this run?

So, there is not really much to add about last nights show. It was my last (20 or so in the last 15 years at the beacon). The brothers are blessed with the best percussion section on the planet, Marc is crazy good and Oteil will never get the credit he deserves, just a phenomena on the bass. We all know Gregg's voice really is the quintessential blues voice and he was very strong last night.

But the truth of the matter is that this was, and still is Duane's band. The spirit of his genius was in the air last night and those of us lucky to be in the house witnessed jaw dropping, scorching, and brilliant guitar from Derek and Warren. The way they traded leads and licks was the stuff we all go to shows for, to be there the night the roof burns off the building. Duane's guitars were played with the ferocity they experienced all those years ago. All hail Derek and Warren! Thank you.

This band at the beacon is as good as any band in any house, ever. Last night was epic.

It's hard to imagine that any show could out-do Monday. But I guess Tuesday did exactly that. Wish I was there. Hats off to those that were.

God bless the Allman Brothers Band.
