Just a heads up. Don't believe this cat if he contacts you for a "trade." He contacted me about getting some Robert Earl Keen shows (which I promptly sent) and I know that several others on this forum trade Robert's shows. He might be looking for more.

If he comes thru (looks highly unlikely) I will post a "retraction" of this message.

list is on phishhook.com under Grateful_Dad_22

Don't get me wrong, I'm usually glad to send anyone a freebie or two.... it's the deception and stealing that I have a problem with....

Yea pretty sleazy.

Add this guy to that list:

Gary Blaise

He and I arranged a large trade. I came through immediatly and he stopped answering my PMs. Have not seen him around here since. His handle his Ihavetheillness

Everybody else has been super cool though.

Sometimes life gets in the way of trading music. I'm not giving these guys a free pass, by any means, and it would go a long way if they would just drop you a PM or email saying it's going to be a while....but, I'm torn about posting other people's addresses.....not sure it's the right thing to do...

I've had some questionable traders myself, few people went without communication with me for a while.

Had one trader e-mail me for one show and never gave me a list, I promptly sent out the show and never heard from him again.

I have no sympathy for bad traders

if your not prepared to come through then dont agree to the trade
or at least keep in communication

oh and thanks David for the heads up as I trade Keen frequently

You are right about posting addresses, Mr. Sandman, and I have edited my post accordingly.

However, while life might get in the way of a trade, 5 months is a bit much, especially with no PM or anything else. A trade, while not a binding contract, is an agreement based on our honor system here.

No, Linnie...that wasn't for you...heh...

And I have no sympathy for bad traders either, believe me...communication is key when it come to trading. And I would have no problem listing the guy's name and screen name, but I guess I just have a problem posting other people's addresses....just my opinion....

No, not me - I'm an idiot from Virginia.

BTW - you all might just be surprised to see a list of folks from here that probably owe me stuff....but it's all small and forgiveable, and not worth even mentioning....I've dealt with most of them enough to know when something simply slipped thru the cracks versus a habitual "bad trader"....really no bad traders stick around here...

In another entirely different light...there are a small, but growing, number of folks that I've "cold-contacted" for shows (folks with lists on Etree and Phishhook) - these folks have been amazingly nice - not just with the trades but with ongoing e-mail relationships....

I am happy to say(knock on wood) that as of lately I haven't had any problems.

Have a Beatles trader, that approached me about a trade before Thanksgiving, who I feel probably burnt me. Sent him a 2 disc show, and 10 blanks- nothing back yet. ( He suggested the B&P part, when I told him I had no Beatles). The worst part is I lost his address and e-mail-- so I can't complain about it.

I assume he got my info from this site so if you read this, you know who you are--- PM me and I'll mail you some more good shows.

Benjamin - your etree & phishhook remark is right on the button: having a list on either/both of these sites basically leaves the trader open to all criticism/praise due for his trading activities. In the main, this means that the guys who are willing to stick their heads above the parapet & list at these sites are good traders - etree even has a "Comments" facility, so you can check what other traders think of them!

Listing on etree &/or trading with people who are on etree is thoroughly recommended! (and I'm not just saying that because i'm there, either! )
