and a whole bunch more in this interview. Talks tons of Mule stuff, fatherhood, new live releases coming from Mule in honor of the 20th and several minutes of comments on how emotional the Beacon shows will be for him and he speaks with great love for the band and for Dickey.

Thanks for posting... I loved hearing his & Derek's thoughts on having an ABB without Dickey

"That's such a bizarre kind of situation because, you know, I don't speak for Derek but in this case I can, he and I both felt very weird about there being an Allman Brothers without Dickey. I think we did our best to do our best and to honor the legacy the best we could honor it. But neither of us felt comfortable with the Allman Brothers existing without Dickey. Once the decision was made to move on, you do your best. He's a founding member and a huge part of that sound. From a historical standpoint, I'd love to see him come back and be a part of the end."

Funny how some people still think the others have no plans. They have never closed their options nor should they. Warren sure sounds like they are.

Actually from both Warren and Derek's recent interviews it sounds like there was a definite plan, but others might have changed them as the time came near to execute the plan.

Other than Warren, Derek and maybe Oteil it doesn't seem like the others have a well organized plan.

Good to hear all of these Mule live releases are coming out. I just wish the Stones Halloween show would be out on CD/DVD and not just vinyl.

That was great, thanks. His 3 yo saying "damn sure better than rain" cracked me up!

I also would love for Dickey to be there, but I'm prepared for disappointment on that.

Interview was terrific. Questions touched on everything you wanted to hear and Warren's responses were genuine and heartfelt. His admission that the upcoming closing Beacon run is getting emotional for him was revealing. We haven't heard that from any member other than Warren as of yet. On the heels of losing his good buddy Brian and the end of his 25 year run with The Brothers Warren remains the classy , genuine human being he's always been.

i dont understand how there would be disappointment on dickey not being at the beacon.....

he hasnt been a part of the band for 14 years now.......

so, with him not being at the beacon----its status quo.......

You really don't understand why the only other surviving original member should be at the band's final live appearance?

I suspect that at least one party would be fearful that Dickey would steal the show, if not through his playing and singing then just by his attendance.

I would hope the Brothers and Dickey agree to play a few songs together.

Today i was looking at some pics of Dickey,Gregg,Butch and Jaimoe, and unless Kirk's camera was fooling my eyes, there were lots of smiles, warmth and camaraderie sandwiched between all the reported battles and great music.

as human beings I would hope that all parties can find the love, compassion and forgiveness that might generate good feelings between them.

At the very least,a few songs might be nice.

Did you ever think that maybe he doesn't want to be there?. I doubt anyone is fearful of him stealing the show.

No.........I dont understand why he should be at the final shows.....

reason why i dont understand----he is not part of the band anymore......hasnt been since 2000.....thats 14 years....

another reason----let's see---how bout the lawsuit and the settlement that dickey and the band made.....

again--he's not part of the allman brothers band anymore......

plain and simple....

read one way out and you'll see......

and like pops42 says---maybe he doesnt want to be there........he apparently didnt want to be there for the 40th anniversary..........

It would be nice to see as a fan, but if I were Dickey, there's no way I'd join them after what they did to him. They severed the man's spirit by taking the band away from him. Also, if Dickey's playing at the TTB show was an accurate example of what kind of chops he has left, then he can't hang with the ABB anymore, as hard as it is for me to write that. TTB slowed down the tempo big time and while it was a nice solo, ABB can't do shows with a slower tempo. But a guest spot on Blue Sky and Liz Reed encore at the final Beacon show would be a dream come true for me.

Imho, His continued display of "diminishing skills" was just an excuse. The reason was his attitude. I'm guessing the rest of the guys were tired of walking on eggshells and it was just time.

yeah.....i think his attitude and lifestyle added alot to it...

back in 2000, when it first happened, somewhere i had heard or read, that one of the band members, after discussing dickey's playing with him and dickey disagreeing, that band member said to go back and listen to the tapes and you'll hear what we are talking about.......

If you listen to that interview, you can read between many lines...on questions regarding his son, music, projects, etc., he answers quickly; regarding the ABB, you can hear the suspended pauses...there is some serious cognition going on there, i.e., he is certainly 'choosing his words' carefully.

I thought it went without saying that his being there would be contingent on him wanting to ...

He may not have been a member since 2000 but, as I said, he is a founder and charter member which seems to me to make him more significant than the many other players who have passed through.

If they are the final shows, it seems an ideal opportunity to let bygones be bygones but if some fans can't see that, I'm sure the protagonists won't get it either.

While it may be fitting neither Butch nor Grwgg are letting Dickey anywhere close to The Beacon IMHO
