Jackie Greene joins Derek and Susan during the acoustic set to play harp on this Stones song that Susan has covered before.

decent show .Im glad I didn't have to pay .If you take Derek out of the equation ,they are a glorified cover band period .They wont be selling out multi Beacon shows once the Bros name isn't out there touring constantly .The audience was hands down 80% Allman fans .half of them hoping Dickey betts and Greg would come out for a reunion . Phil Lesh and friends with Warren ,was so much better ,would love to see D.Trucks with that band ..

Couldn't disagree more. True, there were several covers, but TTB knocks everything out of the park. The covers they happen to pick are some of my favorite tunes that will never sound better. Last Friday's show with Taj and Jerry Douglas was way more off the charts than last night's show, but if we are going to randomly compare Phil & Friends and TTB, it's not even close (unless you are looking to take a nap). But, everyone has different tastes...

I concur. These covers aren't things they do every night. I think that they're trying to build this September residency at The beacon as a yearly event with special guests and specially picked covers for the occasion. Loan Me a Dime and i Pity The Fool alone put this up to one of the best TTB shows I've ever seen! But when they don't do these covers they do great originals like Made Up Mind and The Storm! This band rocks that they just seem to be having too much fun up there and it translates to the crowd!

You sound incredibly biased, and you cant be serious about the comment that it's Allman Brother fans who are hoping to see Dickey and Gregg. Thats flat-out ridiculous. Dickey came out once last year and it was a rare, special thing. Gregg isnt even in the cards to come out with this band. They dont NEED the guests to pump up the attendance. What I WILL admit is that 4 shows is too much for them right now. I say give it time and they will be able to play longer residencies, but based off the numbers, they shouldve done 3 shows.

And glorified cover band? There is not one weak link in the band. Please point out one musician in the band that can be considered a "bar band cover musician". I'll wait.

I hope this does become an annual thing, kind of like TTB picking up the Allmans' torch. TTB was a highlight of Wanee this past Spring, the whole crowd loved it and I recall them playing more material from Made Up Mind than they have during these Beacon shows. This isn't a band relying on 50 year old material, they already have a great catalog of material from their first two albums. Many of the covers are standards ("I Pity the Fool", "Night Time is the Right Time"), but some of the covers they've picked out are spot on and relatively obscure to younger audiences - Little Milton's "More and More", Traffic's "Who Knows What Tomorrow Will Bring", Stones' "You Got the Silver". "Loan Me a Dime" was a nice surprise. I swear, I think Derek is picking tunes off of my playlist sometimes.

It's already been an annual thing. Theyve been doing it since 2011. It's been an interesting ride so far. I can only see it getting better from here.

That was my first live exposure to TTB last night at the Beacon and I had a blast. I hope they continue with annual Beacon shows - I will be back for sure. Palace of The King was phenomenal last night :-)

Couldn't disagree more

How many "covers" does the ABB do?

They are for real and the four shows were a breath of fresh air.

I know of a great band with an amazing slide guitarist that released 2 great studio albums, plus a stellar double live album which was mostly made up of spectacular re-arranged covers and a couple of stellar originals, all within 3 years. Wait, I know of TWO amazing bands that did this.

They are riding the coatails of the allman brothers.ST was a barely heard of guitarist and DT played my friend rest. in VT.Without the brothers name behind them they would be back to playing bars.

I guess that's how they virtually sold out The Beacon four nights and charged $125 for up front tickets.

Got any good presale codes?

What you are saying makes no sense. If you don't like them, fine we get it, but they wouldn't be popular and selling out the Beacon if people didn't like the hell out this band. Every one starts out opening for someone - you could say the same thing about Gov't Mule and Warren, and the Allmans were even more popular in 1994 than they are now.

Susan was playing good sized festivals and had her own fan base before she even met Derek, and Derek was doing pretty well for himself at 19 before he even joined the Allman Brothers. Also, spaces after periods make it a lot easier to figure out what grumpy, stubborn nonsense you are trying to say.
