Has anyone contacted the source and explain the vining process to them? This was over in the AG section and I steered them to the Vines where I thought it would attract some attention.....Just a suggestion, they may not know

Interesting

I posted this in the thread in the AG

I'm skeptical of this show being 4/30/76. I went to the website where this is streamed but I didn't want to register to hear it.

I was at this show, it was the Derby Eve Jam the night before the Kentucky Derby, The Outlaws were the opening act. I don't remember Don't Keep Me Wondering being played and I vividly remember Liz Reed being played. I think Ramblin Man was played about midway through the show and was televised live on ABC on a pre Derby show.

It was the worst ABB show that I've ever seen, they did two more shows and broke up.

I went to the site and listened to "Don't keep me wonderin' " Odd sounding without Duane's slide work. While listening, I immediately started to feel bad for Chuck Leavell, seems he was the only one with any spark.

I'd like to hear this out of curiosity but I'm coming into my busy season at work and probably won't have time to deal with a vine.

To further what BigV said. The reason I remember Liz Reed is that they were dragging and when Gregg hit his solo he jumped to his feet to hit the first chord to try to get the song back on track.

I am very curious about the ABC broadcast of the show. Are there any surviving copies of "Ramblin' Man" or any other songs that might have been broadcast?

On a related note, I do have a 2 minute 40 second clip of them playing "Ramblin' Man" from 1976 but I'm fairly confident that that it is from 3/13/76 at Nassau Coliseum. Does anyone know anything else about this broadcast, including if there were more songs aired?

I worked in TV for over 20 years and I would always ask people that worked at ABC affiliates if they knew of any video of with no luck. If any tape exists I would think that it is on 2" tape and there aren't too many working 2" machines left. To my knowledge Ramblin Man was the only thing that aired. If my memory serves (it has been 38 years) they said something about it going live right before Ramblin Man

Thanks for the info. I guess it would be pretty surprising if anything from that era survived, but you never know.

I just listened to a little bit of this and I'm no longer a skeptic, but it's not complete.
