I like both those as well as others. The song that moved me the most at my last Beacon show was "Rockin' Horse". I'm not saying it was my favorite but from introduction to ending that piece, that night, was a tour de force. Oteil was a bass sorcerer. The percussion unit was dynamic - a thousand armed dervish hitting all the notes. The interplay between Warren and Derek was both sublime and powerful.

I know a lot of folks don't like the song. I'll even admit it doesn't really fit into the traditional Allman Brothers canon. I don't care. I really like it.

Ain't Wastin' Time no More is probsbly the best song Gregg has written. It is one of my favorites, I especially like the version from Peakin' at the Beacon. But I like Whippin' Post the best.

"Dreams" for me, too. Favorite song by anyone.

Rare that anyone gives Peakin' any love, but that's one of my favorite versions too. I miss the guitar harmony Dickey/Warren/Jack/Derek used to do at the end. For some reason Warren's solo at the end these days often sounds sour.

Was really glad to hear "Back Where It All Begins" at Dickey's show on Fri - that's the song I miss the most from Allman Bros sets (since they occasionally play "Blue Sky")

I really like the funky opening to "Rockin' Horse" that the Allmans have been doing the past couple of years, but the rest of the song is nails on a chalkboard to me.

Dreams and Liz Reed are special. I suppose if I was told I could pick only one ABB song to listen to it would be Dreams. Ain't Wastin Time No More is as good. Great version can be found 3/15/13 - Beacon. Another great one when Gregg is in top form is Stormy Monday and Its Not My Cross To Bear. I just completed making a two CD playlist set entitled Beacon tops. And all these made the cut. One that is not is Whippin Post. Cannot find an excellent version from my collection except from Clapton's Crossroads and that was only on the Video but not the CD. Back to the question. My answer after much deliberation would be Aint wastin time no more.

well since some mention more than 1; 'Don't Keep me Wonderin' & most from the Eat a Peach period...but 'Mountain Jam still stands out as something which can be fairly epic Live, especially the percussion & guitar background changovers blending into the other songs. They've done great versions going back & forth into the Hendrix song at the beacon & Peachfest lately which I thought was very cool. One reason I might like that song so much is cause I still have a vivid recollection of Duane & Dickey playing it Live & it just seemed to go on forever...I never really thought anyone could do it justice again till I saw Warren & Derek play it more than once.

Dreams is probably my favorite tune especially the original from the 1st album. There's a few places Duane just takes me away....

E Reed, Please don't keep me wondering and Revival

Mtn Jam.....

Ain't wasting time no more....I also think this is Gregg's best tune....a beautiful song

Blue sky....another great melody and tune....searing guitar solos....Yeah baby

Jessica

High Falls

I'm sure there are others...but these are my top of the top

My favorite studio song is Blue Sky, if I'm in the house I would like to hear Liz Reed every time.

I regard the songs (with vocal) and the tunes (instrumentals) as two different categories.

As far as the songs go, I love Dreams (originals) and Desdemona (currents). Blue Sky is certainly high on my list. Whippin Post is an all-time standard!

For the instrumentals - Liz Reed, Jessica and High Falls - three-way tie!

Back again. Favorite song vs favorite live song. Blue sky for sure is my fav song but while each year the band gets it closer to perfect live its not quite there yet compared to some live versions with Dickey.

I would probably go with Whipping Post. Such a powerful energy to that song!

Dreams and Liz Reed are also worthy contenders that I might pick as my favorite depending on the day you ask me.

I like pretty much all the instrumentals, even the recent ones Egypt and Bag End, which are criminally underrated in my mind.
