ok,here we go again...I know, but really he should. And ABB should welcome it,despite any 'bad blood' or whatever.
Lets face it most of these guys are pushing 70 & I really think its time to 'get over' anything that might be lingering. And I'm thinking Peachfest is a great place for him to do it.

He could join the Allman Brothers for the general Sat night show...or even better the 'Eat a Peach' show which would be awesome! Dickeys a big boy & I think he really has it in his power to just call & say "hey I'm coming down, can you make room for me for a couple of tunes"or 1 of ABB to just call him now, before its over.Really easy.

It would be really great to see the dynamic between him & Derek with the rest of the band again.I think Dickey would surprise a few people. It sure would bring back great memories of Duane & him.Forget "In Memory of Liz Reed" it'll bring up "In Memory of Duane & He",for those who remember.
It would be so great for a newer younger Peachfest audience to see him perform too! I just think it would be great to get 'all' the last surviving members together 1 last time before it Is over!

So Dickey (or ABB) ,if you're listening; How about it..
Peachfest...next week,for a few songs?
Could be historic,1 last time?Who knows what could happen?

It would be a nice ending too the Allman Bros legacy,BUT I think Mr.Betts seriously hates Gregg,Jaimoe, and Butch(especially).

Those were the days.. long ago and far away.. I too, would love love love to see that happen.. but I doubt it will.
I just think Dickey is beyond it.. he has Great Southern and produces the ABB sound in which he had a great deal in creating . So with his band now he does it his way. In doing that he gives great opportunity to these younger musicians.

I feel blessed to have been at many many shows of both.

I'd guess there's way too much bad blood. If the stories are correct he was asked to play on the 2009 40th run and refused. IMHO that was the kiss of death. And I also think Derek inviting Dickey to play with TTB last year resulted in the "who needs Derek" type comments from Gregg. It WOULD be special - I was down front at that TTB show.

A fine sentiment bettyhynes -- nice post -- but IMO (referring to next post), they're probably too old and ready to call it quits at this point, to seriously hate anybody -- it was ages ago, but bottom line we have the records/CDs/boots etc
Bottom line 2 -- after Gregg's book...there is no chance -- not onstage anyway

Music -- what a medium -- one poster (brown site) says GS show last nite was no good, here Chuck calls it best one he's seen -- crazy, & it goes to show there's no right or wrong, good or bad about it -- take from it what you like

I love the ABB, all eras

A) Bad blood
B) Eroding skills (Gregg & Dickey both)
C) If he didn't show up in '09...
D) It's not going to happen.

Take your pick

I wouldn't count on it.

Having said that, it could be done if the guys were willing to make it happen. Gregg, Butch, and Jaime, don't need to talk to each other, or even look at each other. Derek, Warren, Oteil, and Marc are on fine terms with Dickey. They can be mediators. Plus, Dickey already knows the songs. It's not like he would need much practice. He could run through the songs with Derek, Warren, Oteil, and Marc to go over any changes they may have made and then go for it. It would be great to see Dickey on Blue Sky, Liz Reed, and Southbound.

Everybody would love to see it and it would be great for the younger Peach fans to get to see him with ABB before they quit. I've seen him with ABB 75-99 mostly in Florida and a few in Georgia. Never saw Duane and Berry, started going, and was old enough and cool enough to attend shows by about 13. In My fifties now. Did catch Chuck and Lamar with ABB though and many Dickey and Gregg solo, Sea Level, &David Allan Coe with Warren on guitar and some vocals. Dickey has nothing on his schedule from the 10th thru the 20th. He will be a stones throw from the Peach after he plays in NY on the 9th. Peach is the 14th-17th. This is not 09. This is the end. That's a definite maybe.

If you were fired after all those years of hard work, leadership, song writing, etc, would you want to join them onstage ever again? Not me. I'd tell them to go pound sand. They took so much from him and left him with very little. From a fan standpoint, it worked out for us since we got Derek and Warren, but if I'm Dickey, I would never be able to join them in any capacity. Sure it's better to have a more positive attitude towards it, but I'm just being honest.

I'm hoping the current ABB does everything in their power to make these last rare shows as good as they can possibly be.

Adding another dynamic could potentially muddy the sound. Adding another personality could really darken the show. Leadership and ego issues could really screw up a magical musical event.

Although if it happens and I'm there I'll be cheering like a fanatic!

And when the namesake of the group you were with publicly States you should have been fired the day after his brother died...
I'm sure he can't wait to get on stage with him!

I think it would be difficult to play with them without having some kind of pow wow before that, and that darn fax just blew his mind; next the invite to the anniversary show at the Beacon was not done brother to brother, it was more like tell him if he wants to come, he can. What is that? If you want to invite someone to something, you talk to that person not have an intermediary send a message. Though they are celebrities, to have this our people will call your people type of communication is just not right. Dickey even said the invitation was not done the right way. If one of them had spoken to directly to him, he might have went to the Beacon. The ball is in their court if they want to reach out to him.

Totally agree. I saw Dickey at City Winery last year and he was his old pain in the butt angry self in the first set. I agree as I posted that 2009 was the final straw to the three remaining original members .

Just bring everybody out ! Dickey, Chuck Leavell, Jack Pearson, Bonnie Bramlett, Jimmy Herring, Johnny Neel, That Cat they called Rook(David G), and do it right. But just don't bring back that Keytar player. Just a thought for some of these final shows, or are they?

yeh, maybe you're All right! I just thought maybe the right person would read this & Dickey would make a last appearance.
I didn't really think it was that farfetched to consider especially with his schedule so open & him being in NY this week.

I thought Eric had said he didn't want to tour any more?

Don't get me wrong - I've heard the boots from his 2009 shows (and was at the Crossroads MSG shows) and Derek and Warren are just what Eric needs to push him. IMHO Eric plays very "safe" unless pushed.

If Gregg actually said that in response to Derek & Susan inviting Dickey out for a few songs is true, then no one should show up & play the last few shows with them... What an A**Hole...

I never seemed to realize what an azz hat Gregg was before the last few years. I knew of the bad blood of the "remaining three" with Dickey and I was somewhat stunned Derek had Dickey guest. But I fully believe all the comments Gregg has made about Derek - and strangely not Warren - are a result of Derek and Susan having Dickey show last year. It honestly was my first clue that this was going to be the last year of the ABB.
