Can someone fill me in on the 12/1/70 and 12/2/70 Dominos shows with Duane? Does a decent-sounding live recording of either of these performances exist, and if so where might I go to find one?

Secondly, I would think there'd be great interest in a commercial release of these shows. I'm assuming that Clapton's camp would be the ones to do this. It's a tantalizing thought to think that a quality recording of these shows are collecting dust in the archives.

Read the 9th post in this thread.

This Site's list is alphabetical,
The shows are on it but not the greatest sound quality. The file extensions are .asx which will probably have to be converted to be played on a media player

or you can search through this google link.

Masahiko remastered the Tampa show (Curtis Hixon Hall, 12/1/70). I haven't listened to it in a long time, but I don't think the source tapes were great and Duane and Eric had some trouble staying in tune because of the heat and humidity. Earlier versions of the show sounded bad. So it's not the best material to work with, but from what I remember it sounds as good as can be expected and it's the only live document of Duane with the band.

Technology in 1970 consisted of a hand held cassette deck with a built in microphone.
Even on headphones it's a tough listen.
Shame, because I caught the Grateful Dead at Curtis Hixon in the spring of 1978.
Great little venue.
Up front and center with Clapton and Duane Allman?
Anybody there or know somebody who saw this show?

There was a version that circulated many years ago which had no between songs banter etc and "tape squeals" as the taper shut off the mic at the end of songs (I guess to preserve tape/batteries).

Then, after many years, another source emerged from avid Clapton collectors in Japan. That one is better sonically and includes comments between songs etc. Gives you more of the "feel" of having been there.

Not sure if the stage MC messed up or someone was messing with the crowd but the band is introduced as "Earnest Clapton and The Dominoes."

Interestingly, the Miami concert was sparsely attended. When the venue was closed years later, a number of unsold tickets (like the sample above) where recovered.
