I'm a newbie ABB fan so everything is rather new to me. I ran across a 2003 Beacon show and derek was on fire. It was just one night but it was much better then what I've seen of the band lately. So during the Haynes/ Trucks years, what year was the best Beacon run.

2009. No question.

Totally agree. I wasn't able to attend those but heard the shows and they were incredible. Clapton needs other great guitarists to push him and Warren and Derek fit the bill

2009 was my first beacon run.....

so imagine of 3 shows i caught----2 of em were with clapton.....

off the hundreds of shows i have seen (of varying bands), those two stand easily within the top 5 ive ever seen...

the energy outside on the street was huge...

the energy inside before show was intense...

the brothers put on a pretty darned good first set...

place was hopping during setbreak...

energy ramped back up when ECs guitar came out on stage during break..

and the place exploded when he came on stage....

and ive never been to a concert where ive been offered and turned down, someone offering me a thousand bucks for my ticket just before i went in....

and i dont regret it at all........

I agree with 2006, went to three shows. The 3/26 show was off the charts imho.

I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how many times I've written a few paragraphs for this thread, only to nuke them. SO many great shows, SO many years. 2004 was a great year, and not just for the Beacon. The final weekend, the 4 shows I attended that year are just SO dang good. The creativity and momentum carried through the fall that year. Kevin, shoot me an email and I'll send you the 4 songs from 3-28-04 I have available.

2006? Heck yeah! 3-26-06 in particular? Dang straight - great call. 2009? Hells yeah! Pretty much every year, and more shows than not, something special. Even now, something from say, 2013 pops onto my iTunes and I look to see what it is, thinking it's 2004 or 2009, and it's... recent. Then there are years like 2005, when, strangely, 4 mornings in a row I awoke on the UPW with Gregg singing & solo piano running through my head and heart. 2003? The last weekend? Who's YOUR daddy? 2007? Check out the sets and then guests and yeah, it was that good.

See? It's been a wonderful time.

Long live the Allman Brothers Band!

I second (or third) 2006, overall. The final weekend, when they added a Sunday night show (3/26) that year was ridiculous. I also love 2009, especially the anniversary night when they played with NO GUESTS. But the best single set of that run, IMO, was the first set of the first EC night -- that is, the set they played with no guests, knowing that Clapton was in the building. They finished that set with a Whipping Post that I still listen to a couple, three times a month. A FIRST SET WHIPPING POST! The best WP this unit has ever played, that I've heard -- absolutely face melting.

Post Dickey, 2006 without a doubt. The 35th anniversary show of Fillmore shows was amazing. With Dickey either 1989 (the first Beacon shows), or 1992

I agree with the Pre and Post Dickey perspective. While my memories of them are blurrier, and recordings less available to me, I have GREAT recollections of my times at the Dickey era Beacon Shows.

Whatever year no Van Morrison was played was the best year at the Beacon for the ABB.

Agreed. Every time I hear "Into The Mystic" I feel like I have been given a life sentence to the from from hell.

2006 was a very good year as well. I have a few shows. They are all really good. The 35th ann. of Fillmore East was a good show as I recall.

There is no one year that was the "best". They all were good and I'm thankful I was able to attend multiple shows there.

I have stated this often on this site but I believe it bears repeating here. I have attended shows in NYC in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Hard for me to remember my first show in 2006 - too bad they did not provide CD's for that year based on what others are saying. I believe my favorite was not at the Beacon at all but at the United Palace in 2010 which was the final show on Sat night.

Good call! That WAS amazing. The best Beacon shows, at intermission you just can't BELIEVE there's more to come. That first set was setting a VERY high bar for what was to come.

I was not at either EC night, but I saw 3 other shows in 2009 and they were indeed smokin from start to finish.
