Gregg Allman checked himself into a hospital on Monday, a day before canceling three concerts, including his headlining Sunday appearance at the Waterfront Blues Festival.

"He decided to cancel the gig tonight in Boise yesterday," Peter Dammann, the festival's artistic director, said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon as Waterfront Park preparations went on behind him. "This morning I called up his agent and said, 'What's going on?' They said, 'We're evaluating, we'll get back to you.' A couple hours later, I got a note from management that said, 'We're canceling the whole tour.' They didn't give us any specifics on what's happening with Gregg."

Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival press conference Tara Taylor, Associate Director of Community Engagement at the Oregon Food Bank, and the Waterfront Blues Festival's Artistic Director Peter Dammann speak to the press about Gregg Allman's cancelation Sunday night and his replacement, Curtis Salgado.

As previously reported, Allman has faced a pair of health issues already this year, canceling previous shows with a broken wrist and bronchitis. The musician received a liver transplant in 2010. For his part, in a statement to the Oregonian, Allman's team says he "hopes to reschedule." Dammann said they'd be happy to be involved in a future date.

The festival considered a few other options along with tapping Curtis Salgado as a replacement, but the 4th of July weekend makes for difficult scheduling.

"I did look into the possibility of bringing in Bonnie Raitt to do a guest spot with Curtis, they're old buddies," Dammann said. "She happens to be playing in Minneapolis Sunday night. Steve Miller would've been another possibility."

Tickets are still available for Sunday, the only ticketed day of the four-day festival, and the organizers hope people will continue to support the charity event, which still boasts performers including Los Lobos and Boz Scaggs.

"Our fundraising goal for this year is a million dollars and we're very well on pace to make that," said Tara Taylor, the festival's associate director of community engagement.

I hate to say this but that's pretty goddamn cold. I saw him May 24th at The Santa Cruz Blues Festival and he looked great.

Yeah, pretty cold. But he does need to take care of himself and forget touring for now. This is three times in less than a year. We'll see what happens to the October Beacon dates or Peach and Lockn

Before you jump on the original post, it's not like the majority of fans haven't asked that same question recently about Gregg. The health issues over the past few years have been adding up.

Hopefully he can bounce back quickly.

Regrettably, the question is reasonable, not cold, given the cancellations and hospitalizations of the last few years. It certainly was not posted with any malice.

I agree that his singing is strong and he is animated lately, but maybe he needs the time off to take care of himself.

For once we agree. To me his voice is a treasure. Praying for his swift recovery.

I agree it was not posted with malice. Let's hope he never drops in here or any family members/friends that care about him. Talking about someone's impending death is not something they would want to read about

Prayers, and healing vibes to Gregg.

We just saw him last Saturday, June 28th in NorCal. Looked great and sounded better. I remarked to Ayla that he sounded fresh, he even had that growl in his voice. Don't know what happened between Saturday and Monday, but as always wish Gregg the best, and hope for a speedy recovery.

Dumb @ss people taking to arguing instantly in this thread! This forum basically sucks due to all the buttheads with gigantic ego's that constantly argue. It is all Me Me Me cr@p. News: Nobody gives a flying Eff about YOU! And your arrogant opinions.

I have a right to an opinion, I have tickets to Spokane, but I respectfully refrain. My opinion is more on the idiots posting here.

All this stuff's been posted a million times in the last year or two -- yes there's that many ways I guess of saying, feel better soon, bro -- wailing like he was at recent shows, hopefully it isn't anything major

When my wife & I trucked over to Bookends in NJ for his book signing last year I took a couple pic's . I let everybody go in front of us hoping for a mini meet with him. He chatted for a couple seconds with my wife (he was telling her she looked like Bette Midler and how Bette's a good friend of his). She adores the man and looked dotingly at him, Man I wish I could get her to look at me with that sparkle in her eyes?

I snapped a couple pic's and passed the camera to a gent who took pic's of us all. I won't post them as being a collector I've seen many a fake sig' backed up by other people pic's put together with forged items. Sad, but if a buck can be made dishonorably or not, that buck will be made.

He looked weathered & worn in one and healthy and fit in the rest. His personae was vibrant, he was in great spirits. I pray for his health and happiness, He sure has given us a bunch!

Get well soon Handsome! I'm salivating for that proposed tour next February!

It would seem to me that most have lost interest in what's going on with the band as this thread has a grand total 1 page so far. Looks like wolf has been cried to many times. It is unfortunate and god bless Gregg to a speedy recovery, but I will say its impossible to plan anything around this band at the moment. Time for him to get healthy and then see what life brings.

it's been a rough year for gregg. bronchitis, broken wrist, the movie problem, living with a new liver, recovering addict. the touring doesn't seem to be too heavy. i think its a combination of all of it causing fatigue. its been a rough year.
