Kind of a crazy evening, ended up 4th row last minute. Larry McCray sat in and I know him and his manager a little bit, saw his manager as they were finishing up Larry's song and he said "Follow me." So watched the last 45 minutes of the show from the back corner of the stage! Got to meet Derek and Susan and talk with them for a couple minutes during the encore break and again chatted with Derek briefly after the show.
It was an amazing performance too, such a great dynamic for an 11 piece band, it really doesn't seem crowded and everyone gets their time. Anyway, here's some of my pictures.

My word does Derek need to lose that disgusting pony-tail.

I'd rather him get rid of that duck hunter beard. Trim it up a bit.

I don't recall ever seeing Derek without it.

I keep wondering how many goofball posts from 74Jer it's going to take before people start realizing that all he does is troll.

Exactly. He's had the ponytail as long as I've seen pictures from a teen. Maybe Susan asked him to grow a beard. Who the f cares?

Great photos; thanks!

I saw TTB in April, and it seemed like Derek had longer solos than I remembered from times past. He seemed to be asserting his jam self more and had a good one w/ Kofi. I like the new direction.

I agree Brock. The TTB set at Mountain Jam had at least 4 knock-em-dead Derek solos by my count: Idle Wind, Midnight In Harlem, Bound For Glory and The Storm. That is not even including his shorter solos throughout the show, which were excellent.

Idle Wind in particular really jumps out as possibly my favorite TTB tune so far. Great flute by Kofi and a really powerful solo by Derek with strong Eastern inflection, set against the backdrop of the best horn lines TTB has come up with yet. I even like Susan's vocals on this tune more than usual.

Now if Derek could just cut that ponytail, imagine how much better they would be!

i was there the other night too. We got really lucky with the weather. Great night to see a great band! Yelled "Awesome show DT!" to Derek as he was walking off stage after encore. He acknowledged. I'm a dork.

How many "knock-em dead" Horn solos of any length were there?

The horns as a group add a lot of punch. There are some good solos but for me it's the ensemble playing that really does it.
I haven't heard the Mountain Jam set yet, but the 6/06 show smokes
Idle Wind and Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring blew me away

If you haven't heard them since Everybody's Talkin' then you haven't heard them

Saw them tonight and it was a great show. Wish I could go down to Chicago and see them with Widespread Panic.

Kofi's solo during Bound for Glory might have been the highlight of the show.

Kebbi Williams on The Storm probably had the most room to blow in terms of horn solos. Kofi's flute on Idle Wind was very prominent.

Not as many horn solos as guitar solos, but in a band with Derek Trucks in it, that's how it should be.

As I said, I feel Idle Wind is the best use the band has made yet of the horn section. Just a great horn line to that song, and the perfect accompaniment to my favorite Derek Trucks solo I've heard in a while.

Exactly X2.

I mean isn't it really about the music, music, and more music?

Either Derek read this thread, or Susan got tired of the Jimmy Herring beard:

Really? There is no possibility Derek trimmed his beard because he wanted to? It has to be he read this nonsense or Susan made him ? How ridiculous.
