I know, I know, this usually isn't the type of place to talk about Prince, but man, I really want to see him live. I am open to all types of music and needless to say, I consider Prince to be a living legend. I grew up with this guy's stuff and it looks like this will be the last time he plays his hits. Ridicule me if you want, but this guy is a great guitarist and I bet put's on a great live show.

Here are Prince's tour dates:

March 31: Phoenix (Glendale Arena)
April 2: Dallas (American Airlines Center)
April 6: Oklahoma City (Ford Center)
April 7: Omaha, Neb. (Qwest Center)
April 8: Ames, Iowa (Hilton Coliseum)
April 10: Champaign, Ill. (Assembly Hall)
April 12: Indianapolis (Conseco Fieldhouse)
April 13: Cincinnati (U.S. Bank Arena)
April 14: Pittsburgh (Mellon Arena)
April 16: Columbus, Ohio (Value City Arena / Schottenstein Center)
April 17: Cleveland (Gund Arena)
April 18: State College, Pa. (Bryce Jordan Center)
April 21: Columbia, S.C. (Colonial Center)
April 22: Knoxville, Ky. (Thompson-Boling Arena)
April 23: Raleigh, N.C. (RBC Center)
April 25: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Office Depot Center)
April 26: Tampa, Fla. (St. Pete Times Forum)
April 27: Jacksonville, Fla. (Veterans Memorial Arena)
April 29: Birmingham, Ala. (BJCC Coliseum)
April 30: Atlanta (Philips Arena)

PRINCE can be two things live: Brilliant or extremely self-indulgent. I have seem him afew times and the shows have gone from extraordinary to quite boring.

He has said that this last little run and maybe any extensions will be the last time that he will play the older "classic" material in it's entirety. He has done large medleys in the past.

If you like the material, I say go to see the tour.

Nothing wrong with talking about very creative music besides the ABB. This is a discussion Forum and new things brought to the table are interesting.

Billy Kain can you say "Classic" Prince songs again. That is comedy at its best. Maybe your comedy act should open for him.

Are those 4 Xs the rating for the show Billy? I always duck when crap is playing. Glad it didn't hit me in the head. Will he be wearing his sequins?

I will accept no bad music before its time. For a commercial artist his songs have gotten even worse than madonna's. When a "pop" musician starts claiming he won't follow the industry and will do his own thing the translation is - Washed up and can't write a catchy tune for his life. Maybe he will drive his little Mauve corvette on stage.

THis is going to amaze some folks, but CM, you are dead wrong. Yep, Prince can be the little sequined troll, but he can also rock. Few folks out there are playing true Funk. He is one of them. Back in 1984 my first music article ever was covering an unannounced jam by Prince at a small club here in Cincinnati. Back then big acts would show up at small clubs to hone their act right before a big tour. I got wind of it and the place was rocked.

His peak, album wise, in my opinion, was Sign O The Times. Experimental, funky, with a rockin' live cut on the end of the two-CD set.

And, he brought back one of my favorite Funk bassist of all time, Larry Graham, for a CD a few years ago. Graham Central Station CD's are still in my rotation 30 years after they came out.

Prince was on the Travis Smiley Show the other night and made a point that I agree with. I used to be a hell of a cusser, a master cursist! But cuss words lose their power when they are said all the time. That is what is screwed up about Rap music and TV, etc, cussing is everywhere, every other word. The F-Bomb used to mean something. Anyway, then he played an acoustic guitar jam with Wendy backing him up and it rocked. Good to see him and Wendy playing again.

As far as the new tour, it is a good move to not turn it into a Greatest Hits act like so many other bands. George Clinton is still playing the true old Funk, but Prince's Funk is new.

Funkier than the Lemonheads.

DH

I was just yanking Billy Kain's chain which he knows I'm doing. prince is all right but a little full of himself. But the truth is all of his supporters always talk about the great shows they saw 15-20 years ago. Look at those examples here as mentioned by all above. It is trendy by those in the music industry to dig him but I believe it is mostly fake. Billy Kain can say what he wants but I have known him many years and I still am waiting for him to listen to Prince.

If you love him, more power to you I can respect that. Just don't look for me there. My ticket is up for grabs. I saw him and like Madonna it was more Vegas than rock. I prefer to talk about the great shows I saw last year. I don't need to talk about a 89 ABB show to sell someone on them. It is just as good now.

As for his comments about rap they are right on target from what you say. But we all know that already and that is another topic all together. Canadianmule vs. Rap!

Swearing just makes it predictable and is a crutch. Same goes for comedy. Perfect examples are Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. Amazing comedians who got coked up and just started swearing. Gets old fast. Andrew Dice Clay is the same story but I don't know about the coke. He never blew himself up freebasing. Maybe coke/crack makes you swear and insult women?

I sent you some Fantomas...."The Directors Cut"

That CD that had songs that were all named after Psycho type movies...

It's like Hard Core Thrash with Patton making all kinds of verbal regurgutating.....'

It's not for the meek......

He also plays with Tomahawk..with some dudes from Jesus Lizard......

Now that was a band....Jesus Lizard........David Yow on Vocals.....

I saw them.....

It was awesome....

They all had on Costumes....

The Bass Player was dressed as an alien..with this Giant Head.

The Drummer had a Frankenstein head on....

Patton was in S&M leather with the zipper mask....

The lead player was dressed as Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies...

They did a version of "The Stroke" from Billy Squire that rocked...

If you ever get a chance..see them.

Fantomas is much more bizzare.....like "One Step Beyond" Bungle

Saw them open for someone after that first album. Drawing a blank right now.

The last band I saw him with just made lots of noise and he sang through all sorts of effects. Was that Fantomas?
