Here's a review I just posted on Amazon. Let me add: I bought my copy from Hittin' The Note, and any true ABB fan should too!! SUPPORT HITTIN' THE NOTE!

I got my copy by pre-order and just viewed it for the first time last night. It was recorded at The Beacon Theatre in New York on March 26, 2009, which was the exact 40 year anniversary to the day from when the band first played together. They run through their entire first two records in the same song order, adding Statesboro Blues as an encore. All other nights at The Beacon that year included guest artists, but including guest artists comes with lots of licensing and legal hassles. That is most likely the reason the other shows have not been officially documented on DVD. The Allmans performed by themselves on this evening with no guests.

To a long-time fan like myself, this is easily the hottest video documentation of The Allman Brothers Band to date. The songs are familiar of course to any fan, as the first two records contain at least half of their greatest songs. And the performances here are astounding. Improvisation comes long and hard, the band's stunning jazz/rock muscle in full view throughout. Revival is a version like you've never heard, they expand on it so ingeniously that the song is nearly unrecognizable until they break back into the chorus. Please Call Home is earthy and soulful, Gregg Allman singing like only Gregg Allman can.

If you're looking to venture $20 on a truly smoking and classic rock DVD..............look no further!

Nice! I've been counting the days for this to be released (thought it wasn't until tomorrow.) I'd better go and take a look in my P.O. box!

Bought it on Amazon for $5 less. Figured I was owed that since my presale purchase of the 1992 Live at the Beacon CD has yielded me little in terms of the 3.29 show which was postponed.

Sorry, no, just the concert.

To my ears, the audio is significantly better than the Instant Live of this show.

I wish more people here thought more like you and me. What's another $5.00 when you have the knowledge that the $5.00 is supporting the organization which in large part allows DVD's like this to be released in the first place? C'mon folks...........how about thinking a little more from the heart, not the wallet. Really now..........FIVE DOLLARS? It's been outlined here before with other merchandise.............Amazon is likely taking either a no-profit or a slight loss on this item in order to pull ABB fans in. Hittin' The Note simply does not have the volume or the cash to do such a thing.

How about you spend your money however you best see fit and let the rest of us decide how we choose to spend ours?

You sound like one of those commercials for abused animals or orphaned children in Guatemala.

"For the price of one cup of coffee a day"...

I'm trying to drum up support for an entity that depends on clientele from this website. When Hittin' The Note ceases to exist, which eventually could happen, you might view things differently. Hey, I don't have access to your finances, you CAN spend your money however you wish. Sorry for expressing my opinion, man. I'm sure there are a LOT of things you can do with that $5.00 better than supporting a merchandise company which supports The Allman Brothers Band.

I had bought the 3/19 Beacon show a couple of days ago. Then I read some of the reviews about the DVD. I was hoping for a blu-ray release, hence did not do the pre-sale on the DVD. If I had thought ahead when I bought the 3/19 CD I would have included the DVD. I didn't. I bought the 40th Anniversary show off Amazon based on the lower cost, the free shipping due to Amazon Prime, the charitable contribution Amazon Smile makes from all my purchases, and the fact I couldn't get an answer about a future blu-ray release.

Of course Rob, the “I spend my money on whatever I want” is a weak argument.

The point is, if we the ABB fans don’t support HTN then who will? So if you want HTN to keep going then you should support them instead of big companies, you can buy tons of other stuff at Amazon if you want to save money.

I am a big Amazon consumer, but when it comes to ABB stuff –especially new releases- I don’t even look at Amazon’s price. I love the band, not my money!

If in fact HTN "depends on clientele from this website" as a source of business, then they need to re think their business plan. From what I can see there are not that many members here to support a business. If they want to survive they need to compete. If they cant they wont survive. Its that simple.

Selling a product as advertised probably would go a long way also.
And if the product isn't as advertised, then doing everything possible to make the sure the customers order is made right without any cost to them, and with as little effort on the customers part as possible.
Just sayin'....

Diminished "business volume" & fan base has to be expected with the band entering its well-deserved retirement -- really looking forward to this DVD!

I just got that same email. I have Amazon Prime, and I always get the pre-orders from them on or before the release date, and for the lowest price. Unlike Hittin' the Note which has a reasonable sale price, but isn't worth it for widely available products because the shipping adds almost another third of the price on top, plus to insure release day arrival you have to pay even more shipping. The only preorder I have ever received from HTN on or before the release day was Play All Night and Great Woods which I only ordered from them to get the presale code. It was a pleasant surprise that it came on release day. For hard to find items it is certainly worth ordering from HTN but I usually wait until an ABB show and blow $100 at the HTN table and carry it home myself for free. They bring tons of cool stuff to the festivals like Peach etc.
