Alrighty then....simply...I have never seen Gregg more animated, ebullient, literally working his ass off to roustabout the crowd.... and from the look in Gregg's eyes...and from knowing Dangerous Dan and watching him...I'm guessing it is Vitamin C night at the OK Coral.

Yet...oddly enough...it rocks...not crazy about all of the band...but I like the Toler Bros and the horns....and Gregg does not let up.......nothing like opening a set with the phrase... "Come on...give it up for Professor Pork Chop!" And when the rip into a fired-up "Trouble No More," the Mississippi Folk are dancing dey onions off at the 29:55 mark...even though the feedback about tears their ears off...

Opening the set with Dreams is further evidence of substance abuse.

Not necessarily..as the rest of the set is pretty rockin'........even though, yes, the band wasn't warmed up enough to go right into "Dreams." But get past that...an this is...

...oddly rocking.....and then....bizarrely enough....Gregg introduces his band in Jackson Mississippi...and then introduces himself as "Medgar Evers" at the 44:45 mark........really???????????????

Gregg & Danny aren't the only ones flying on the snow bound express. Looks like Chaz booked a seat too!
I see ol' Mike has been posting a lot of ABB stuff on yt lately. Good stuff.
Thanks for the link, Derek.

Wow. Crazy stuff.. I'm only a few songs in but I actually think Gregg sounds pretty awful. He's just growling... not singing... I like the horns...

Edited: i watched it most of the way through... the cocaine energy is pulsating.

Introducing himself as Medgar Evers is one of the more bizarre musician intros I can remember.

The other guitarist is Bruce Waibel - who played bass for the ABB at Crackdown on Crack show in 1986.

A tremendously unimpressive cocaine-fueled pile of steaming musical horseshit. Wow, awful does not even begin to describe how **** both he and whatever band that was sounded.

This is the period when Gregg began to work on his book. Kind of why his memories are so shaky.

I think I hate Frankie Toler's drumming. He seems to play only variations of the shuffle beat used in Sweet Feelin'. Does anyone else hear what i mean? I've been noticing it a lot more in the last few years as I've gathered more Gregg Allman Band shows. I love Dangerous Dan's playing though; marching powder or not.

The Gregg Allman Band sounded pretty dang good at the end of 1982. There are multiple videos of them at the Saenger Theatre on youtube:

Queen of Hearts:

A different level than this 1983 show.

I thought the band was pretty good, but very sad to see Gregg in that shape. Makes me proud though that he's turned his life around so drastically in recent years. What a huge turnaround.

I have never heard gregg sing so bad in his life!!! He sounds way better 31 years later.
And he still plays the same setlists.

Got to agree. I've seen his solo bands over many many years, and saw a few shows during that same time frame. Never heard a show with bad vocals, but this one is just awful. Also never saw a show where he was as animated and bouncing around the organ as what's on this video. He must have been really lit up.

The shows I've seen in the last 10 or so years may be some of the best.
