Well, we don't get a lot of BIG shows here, but this Saturday the Randall Bramblett Band is playing at Bennies Red Barn. Admission price includes dinner buffet! Should be a great show!

I'm guessing it is solo Randall Rusty. No matter, he has the talent of several musicians.

Well, it's a show and it's here on the island. I'm happy with small miracles!

The billboard (yes, billboard) says Randall Bramblett BAND - as do the local flyers and mag' ads. With band or not, I'd go see Randall any night of the week!

Hey Jamie! I am missing that Birmingham music scene! I can remember when an official "scene"never existed! Great town loaded with musical talent!

Great, great, GREAT set by Randall and his 4-piece band last night at the 'barn! The band featured Mike Steel (bass), the young Col Bruce grad, Nick Johnson (guitar), a drummer (Swedish guy? Swiss?) whose name I just didn't catch and Randall on keys and sax.

This was a benefit for a local hospice group and a sumptuous barbecue buffet was provided as part of the ticket cost. Despite not having a house sound man, Randall and company (spearheaded by bassist Michael Steel) not only provided their own sound set-up and mixing, but managed to do what no other act that I've seen at Bennie's Red Barn do - which is to actually sound good!

There were sound issues to work out. There was enough feed-back, buzz, and echo (only in between songs) during the first few moments to make you think you'd gone to a Wilco show. All issues were worked out and the band played a set that was well over 3 hours (with a short break).

The setlist was a very diverse blend of Randall's material since his first album. In no particular order (and I never get the song titles correct), they played stuff like God Was in the Water, Get In Get Out, Used to Rule the World, Where are You Tonight?, Rich Someday, Out on the Runway, My World ... so many others. There were a lot of folks there who had never even heard of Randall - all new, HUGE fans this morning.

This was Donna and mine's first time at a local show (aside from a couple of clubs). Everybody was polite, friendly and well-behaved. As somebody often says, they were a great bunch!
