Just got back from NYC. Hope Gregg gets well soon. I was conflicted because although there were some really great songs I saw, I did miss Gregg's voice and presence a lot. I appreciate everyone that played those 2 shows and played their heart out. Although disappointed at first I am glad I went. What I was wondering was that this is the 45th anniversary and likely the last Beacon run and there wasn't hardly any major guests yet that I was expecting. Wonder who was gonna sit in on the 25th, 28th, & 29th? Wonder if we will find out who was gonna sit in?

160 views and no replies? As a die hard Allman Brother fan I thought this run would be magical and be the best ever. The potential was there for it but never panned out. They played a few songs they dusted off that was nice to hear in this run but nothing spectacular. Figured there would be an incredible list of guest sit ins and there was not. Not that I wanted to see guests every song or every show or anything but honestly felt there would have been a who's who list throughout most of the shows anyway. Maybe they were saving up for the last 4 shows, I don't know? Thoughts?

Its the ABB not ABB + Friends. If you have seen some great guest appearances in the past that is terrific. But just seeing the band on their own is fine by me.

Col. Bruce Hampton would have surely sang one song on 3/29 before his BB King's gig at midnight. He is beloved by Derek, Warren and Oteil and is brought up for a song during the runs.

I do go to see the ABB not guests. Sometimes it is a bonus. I didn't care if there was any at the shows I went to but was talking about the overall run to this point. Being 45 years I thought there would be some musicians that would want to come/show their respect & support for this incredible band.

Also, figured Col. Bruce would be there the 29th since he's at B.B.'s at midnight. He is a cool guest to sit in. Really like his music & style.

BB's has not canceled his show, I am hoping it goes on as planned. I love the Col.!!!
Last year Warren joined him. I would expect Susan to show this year, maybe Oteil and Derek.

That would be really cool if some or all showed up for his show. To see them in a small venue like that would be killer. Goodluck & have fun there, I spent all my money last weekend so not gonna be able to make another trip into the city to see it.

these posts are hilarious. People are complaining all over the site that they want refunds because Gregg was ill despite an amazing show last Friday night. Now everyone is complaining because there are not enough guests this year. You want to see the entire band but then complain that there are not enough guests.

I do not understand the logic here. Gregg was ill and the band picked it up got some great musicians to sit in and put on an outstanding show. I would have been much unhappier if Derek did not play last week than Gregg but i am sure there would have been a stand in. As someone else said, you take your chances -the ABB is not based on one star like McCartney or Springsteen. Gregg Allman is not the center of the band and this was beyond anyones control.

I have no complaints at all about paying for the show I saw last weekend.

I don't want a refund for the shows on the 21st and 22nd. Glad they played. Would have been pissed if they postponed them for everything I had to do to get there. I know some people are complaining about a refund but not me. I admit I would have liked Gregg to be there but so would everybody else. My point was that this run has been fairly uneventful thus far and curious as to how the last week may have unfolded? The shows I saw in last years run flowed so well and sounded amazing from start to finish. I had to stay to get the instant lives of those shows. The shows I saw this year, I did not have that same feeling and left soon as Little Martha played on the PA. I may get them down the road but not dying to hear them right now. 45 years man and likely the end of an institution I guess I was expecting the stars to align one more time and magic to happen. Still glad I went because I ended up getting engaged so it will always be a memorable weekend for me.
