As I hope most of you know, I am "in conversation" with Jaimoe tonight at Barnes & Noble, UWS, 81st and Broadway. 7 PM.

I'm putting together my questions for him, but wanted to throw this out there for you all. I get to speak to Jai all the time... Is there anything you would want to know?

Thanks.

Alan

here's one

with the breakup at the end of the year, everyone seems to be set to put a lot of time and touring into all of their side projects. should we expect more from jaimo's jazz band next year? will he be opening for Gregg's band or hit the road on his own? is another cd in the works?

What are some of his favorite Beacon performances?
Can fans expect any new material from the Allman Brothers Band? Why not?
Does he like to be referred to by his nickname?

Who was his favorite guest bass player to sit in with The ABB over the years?

(I have a bunch of questions for Jaimoe actually...)

IF he refers to anybody at all by name or reference of any sort, ask him, "WHO?" and keep doing it no matter how many times he repeats himself or explains. That's what he did to me one night and I fell for it hook & sinker. I knew that he was familiar with most of the people I was asking about. Finally I looked at him kind of confused and he was just grinning.

Yep. These are the first things I'd want to know. I sure hope his band comes somewhere close to where I live.

Ask if we'll get versions of new songs such as "Dusk Till Dawn" and "Egypt" on an album.

First off, Alan, I love your book and I really enjoy your posts here.
A little know fact on the ABB's longest residency prior to the Beacon. I may be wrong but, I don't think I am. It was 7 days straight, two shows a day in Atlantic , NJ on the Steel Pier. It was the first time I saw the band. Needless to say, it was a life changing experience. I've asked Jaimoe if he remembers the gig and he did. I can share the stories, which were hilarious, I'd rather him share them with you.

I think the question below posted in the topic "Done Somebody Wrong" a hapf a page down from here was a good one particularly since I had no idea Jaimoe recorded with ANYONE let alone Eddie Kirkland in 1997:

" Duane introduced "Done Somebody Wrong" on "Fillmore East" as "an old Elmore James song."

But as far as I can tell, the song was first recorded by Eddie Kirkland in 1959, a full year before Elmore James recorded it.

What I find interesting is that the last gig Jaimoe had before joining the ABB was playing in Eddie Kirkland's band (See references in both "Skydog" and "One Way Out"). Jaimoe later re-recorded "Done Somebody Wrong" with Eddie Kirkland in 1997.

So is "Done Somebody Wrong" an Eddie Kirkland song? Or an Elmore James song?

Here is the version that I think is the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWDD3iFAmOQ "

..... Mainly I'd like to know - Is this THE END or has that been decided yet. If not when.

...and then the pipe-dream question....

IF it is the end, would Jaimoe and/or any other band members consider returning to the Beacon every March for a multi-night run in a band made up of different friends and all-stars under the name Brothers & Sisters or The Beacon All-Stars or whatever? Would love to see this continue with a nod to the Allman Brothers Band.

Love to see JABUMA, The Juke Horns and Otiel form the core "house band" and maybe have different musicians fill in the other nights?

Far-fetched but since you're asking!

Thank Alan

Some interesting ideas here.

The Steel Pier episode is definitely a strange and interesting one.

I'm not sure that Jaimoe or anyone is ready to fully address future plans. I will find out about JJB plans and let you all know. I think the crowd tonight will probably prefer to hear ABB stories.

Done somebody Wrong is intriguing, with his Kirkland connection and I'm personally very curious about Mtn Jam's origins and wish I had found out more about that and put it in the book.

Keep 'em coming. I'll have a look right before we start.

Here is another one that I have thought about over the years. As Jai was the primary jazz influence in the band, did he and Duane ever take in any jazz shows? Duanes playing on Push, Push, in my estimation, is some of his best playing and the most jazz influenced as well.

Some others here have already mentioned these, but the only two questions I can think of at the moment I would like answered are "will there be a new album from Jaimoe's Jasssz Band?" and "will the band be touring apart from the already booked festivals this year and/or next?"

Here is a link to a story on the Allman Brothers Band at Steel Pier that appeared in Atlantic City Weekly in 2011:

There is also a gallery of photos of the band from the six day of shows. The Cowsills, another sibling act, also appeared at the Steel Pier the same week.

Pretty much that right there. That's all I want to know about this band, I just want new music. I've been waiting since 2003

Fantastic time tonight. I will post some highlights tomorrow.

Jaimoe was engaged, thoughtful and funny.

Given the current situation, it wouldn't make sense to ask when the ABB was going to record.
