Hey Folks !

Never knew all that much about Hawkwind , I knew Lemmy was with them back in the day , but other than "Silver Machine" , never heard much.

A few weeks ago , I stumbled upon this on youtube and was blown away by how damn good it was (at least to me). I don't know how many originals are in this version , I know they have had a bunch of members. I dig the bass players "Lemmy" style when he sings. I also know Arthur Brown is on vocals some also. I was happy with the whole show....jamming my ass off.

Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy this....maybe...maybe not.

Line-up / Musicians

- Dave Brock / guitar, keyboards, vocals
- Richard Chadwick / drums
- Alan Davey / bass, vocals
- Tim Blake / keyboards, vocals
- Huw Lloyd-Langton / guitar

Guest:
- Arthur Brown / vocals (1, 4-7, 13-14)

Dave Brock is the only original member but Huw Lloyd-Langton has been in and around the band for a long time. Check out their stuff with Lemmy. The double live Space Ritual is the perfect Hawkwind primer.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame would have a coronary with all these members:

The Bass player , Alan Davey has been in a couple of bands...same kind of music...very good...he sounds like he could be Lemmy Jr. !

Fun show! And with Arthur Brown as a guest on vocals! I had tickets to see Hawkwind in Boston, MA, last year but they cancelled the US tour and rescheduled the date for March of this year (got tickets again) and then they cancelled again!

I did get to see Nik Turner when he stopped by in October of last year. 72 years old and he still puts on a great show! He played a lot of tunes from his new album "Space Gypsy" (as good as any early to mid 70's Hawkwind IMO) and a lot of classic Hawkwind tunes.

And any fan of Hawkwind who hasn't seen the BBC documentary on the band, should check it out. Dave Brock refused to be in it, because Nik Turner was in it, and some former members didn't want to participate. Still worth watching, though...

I've been on a prog rock kick the last few days thanx to a slew of recommendations on a Prog Rock thread on Phish Phantasy Tour (most of which sucks). I listened to Hawkwind for the 1st time just a couple of days ago. Started w/ their albums Hall of the Mountain Grill & then In Search of Space. Loved both of them! I'll definitely be checking out much more of their stuff, including the recommendations on this thread. Thanx!

I also checked out: Egg's The Civil Surface - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3uoeTtGYQA

A couple of Anglagard albums Hydris & Epilog on Grooveshark - http://grooveshark.com/#!/profile/nglag+rd/22189195/albums
