Ha, that is kind of fun. Just signed up to take on Derek. That is pretty cool, loved signing up and seeing bracket created by Derek Trucks.

Great way to engage the fans. Anyone who thinks this is hokey has no concept of modern music marketing and social media.

And I guess you know all of the concepts of modern music marketing? If I fill out a bracket then I buy the CD? Please fill us in...

LOL don't play if ya don't like basketball. Derek likes basketball and the NCAA Tournament is the best sporting event I can think of. Like I said, if ya don't like it don't play, but I guarantee you that you will be hearing about March Madness for the next 3 weeks.

It's a nice way for Derek to share another of his passions with his fan base. Does that merit criticism? Really? I guess the ideal is that musicians remain aloof, in plexiglass coffins, between gigs? Slap 'em in a cryogenic chamber?

Nah. If you do follow modern media, you will see that many musicians do create spaces where they interact with fans in different ways - Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook. Some bands have contests, giveaways, meet'n'greets, whatever. This is not atypical. If anything, it may catch the eye or ear of media outlets like ESPN and get some different kinds of attention for the TTB - which is never a bad idea.

Funny, just for the fun of it I've been picking for a 1/2 hour and if I didn't know either team, I've been flipping a quarter. I printed out a sheet and saw join a group option and there was the TTB option from last year, I came on here to see if they had a thread about it again. Needless to say, I'm in!

Warren Buffett's promise of a billion dollars had me throwing in a hail mary, The TTB link is just for fun, Ya can't overthink things. C'mon man?

I searched out the info and it looks like I don't qualify anyway, The billion was thru some other Quicken Loan link and I did the ESPN one, Here's the info...

Curious how others are doing in Derek's pool. After the San Diego St win I'm tied for 55th place with 330 points.

I heard the Warren Buffet pool has already ended with no winners. They said the Memphis win on Friday night ruined the last perfect brackets.

I am at 320 pts last I looked. I did see an article about everyone being out in the Buffett challenge but there was a bracket included in the article from yahoo that was still going and was still perfect at 36 out of 36. Which is pretty darned impressive.

Figured I'd post this here in the basketball thread. Derek was at the Knicks game Sunday night with his guitar technician.
