a lot of the extras are already out there in collector's circles as well as the live show

Still ...

the super deluxe boxes are quite tempting, but I will have a difficult time justifying this to the mrs ...

Yes, the Bank Manager will take less convincing than 'She Who Must Be Obeyed'.

I already have all the albums on vinyl, CD, & downloads, including many high-quality bootlegs featuring most if not all of the extra tracks being added to the new re-releases. I think I've satisfied all my Led Zep desires for the rest of my life at this point, so as much as I still like the music, they won't be getting any more of my money for these.

For the most part, I can take or leave Zeppelin I and II. I feel they didn't hit their stride until later, and I have most of the good tracks on those albums on the 2-disc Mothership greatest hits release.

However, I've always thought Zeppelin III was their most underrated album, and I do not currently own it in any format. I may just have to cough up some bucks for the deluxe version of that one.

The next round of remasters--IV, Houses Of The Holy, and Physical Graffitti--is some of my favorite music ever created by humans. I may need to start saving now to get those deluxe versions when they come out.

I agree. Don't need the vinyl as I still have my originals from back in the day.

Rob-

Do you (or anyone) know if there is anything unreleased on the Physical Graffitti release? That is one of my favorite albums ever.

So, still no "Hey, Hey What Can I Do"?? That was released between II & III, right? Would've thought it would've been one of the bonus tracks on III.

I'm guessing that will come out on the rerelease of Coda since that is where it was placed on the complete albums box set.

I might be missing something but I am interested in seeing what (if anything) from Physical Graffitti might be on that release.

It was The B-side to the single Immigrant Song. I think it should have been on the LZ III bonus disc. Too bad it's not. I like all three sets after listening to them, LZ II sounds great remastered and the bonus cuts are cool too. The live show bonus disc is nice too from the first one. Good stuff, worth the money, looking forward to the next three releases, Houses of the Holy is a great album.

Wayne, over time Houses Of The Holy has climbed my personal rankings to where it might be my favorite Zeppelin album.

The Crunge and D'yer Maker are throwaway tracks, two of the weakest in the Zep catalog, and that turned me off for a long time. One is a shoddy reggae ripoff, the other a slightly less shoddy James Brown ripoff. Simply not worthy of the Zeppelin name.

But if you look past those two, EVERY other song on that album is a stone-cold classic. I was telling somebody the other day "How good is Houses Of The Holy when Dancing Days is maybe the 5th or 6th best song on it?"

The Song Remains The Same, No Quarter, The Ocean, The Rain Song...doesn't get any better than that.

Hey Rob, my favorite too. I have a soft spot for D'yer Maker, takes me back to my high school days! The Song Remains the Same and The Ocean are two of my favorites of there's. Cool album cover too, we were all trying to figure it out back in the 70s.

Looking forward to Presence coming out too, Achilles Last Stand and Nobody's Fault But Mine are outstanding Zep tunes. Nice summer of music with the Zep catalog and the ABB Fillmore Box coming out.

FWIW, John Paul Jones has been quoted as saying The Crunge is one of his favorite Zeppelin songs.

I guess that is reasonable. What bass player wouldn't love playing a funky James Brown groove? Doesn't mean I agree with him though.

Hey, I did say it was slightly less shoddy than D'yer Maker

I just find both tunes very derivative, whereas the rest of that album shows Zeppelin finding their own voice and creating some truly original and unique music. What else sounds like No Quarter, or Over The Hills And Far Away? Nothing, including early Zeppelin.

I had a pair of Bose 901's in high school. I used to make the house shake with "The Ocean".
