I hate to complain but I do it so well so here goes.

Munck Music has edited the time between songs on the 3-07-14 show. What makes it really bad is it is very obvious. You have roaring crowd one second then the track changes and it goes to dead silence and the next song starts. It happens at least twice on disc 1.

I often will edit long gaps between songs on MY OWN PERSONAL COPY of a show but I do it in a way where it isn't noticed. And I won't trade or pass on an audience recording that I have edited. When I trade for an audience recording or purchase an Instant Live I would like to have the whole show.

In this case it doesn't even serve a purpose. They already have the show on 3 discs and it will easily fit on two. Even after editing the crowd out it is still divided into three discs. That's easy enough though, I just burn it to two. Fixing the transition bewtween songs so it flows is a pain in the neck.

In the past they have gone back in and fine tuned those edits for later versions. I'm fine with it. I have some Instant Lives where there is 2 minutes of dead time between tunes which is just wasted memory taken up on hard drive. I'm buying the show for the music, not to hear the drunk chick whistling in between tunes.

Are the shows available Instant Live style right after the show?

This doesn't bother me. I've always found the crowd noise irritating, and it's usually down in the MM mix anyway. I don't like it when a track ends with minutes of crowd noise and I'll edit that out whenever I can. On the other hand I AM annoyed that MunckMusic still can't get track breaks right, at least the night of the show. Some nights they get the track break one or two seconds late on every single song, and it just drives me crazy because it means every time I make a playlist or listen to a song on random, I'm going to miss a few seconds. This didn't happen as much in years gone by, but the last year or two it's been a constant. And on the 3/7/14 show they actually cut the first verse of Melissa. I'll keep buying them I don't know what's going on with them.

Yes. MunckMusic replaced Instant Live for the ABB in 2007.

Hi Marley,

I had some other folks come to the HTN table in the lobby and mention that they were missing the first 30 seconds of Melissa from that show and I mentioned it to Munck. They said that was a bad burn and could be exchanged either at the Beacon or replacement requested via e-mail.

IMHO, the should have scrapped the whole "instant live" concept when they went to Munck. The recordings are inconsistent. If you wait 24-48 hrs, you can have the download at a great quality sound or just wait until the remixed CDs are ready to ship.

i agree with waiting before purchasing to get the better version...

not really sure why they sell the inferior version at the shows if they know they are going to remix/remaster them later on....

and munch has horrible customer service...

it took me about a year and a half to get a replacement disc after a bad burn........and this was after countless emails.........and speaking to the owner of munch in person.......

I have some problems with my download of the 3/7 show as well, but don't recall exactly where. It was some very abrupt transitions, and maybe some missing note at the beginning.

I will wait for the discs from HTN ...

Curiouser and curiouser. Mine fades in at "Knowing many, loving none." It's that much weirder because the disc is nowhere near full. It's not like they had to trim a few seconds to make all the music fit. I also have a bunch of clicking noises on another song. I need to talk to MunckMusic about this.

I downloaded mine from Munck. It has all of Melissa. But the very abrupt transitions are annoying which is why I started the thread. Not because I like listening to "drunk chicks whistle" or long periods of crowd noise. Several places it goes from very loud crowd cheering to abrupt silence and immediately into the next song. Never had this problem with them before but I did download it immediately after they made it available. Now that I know they go back & fix these things I will just wait a bit to get any others.

There have been chicks at the shows?
