What a great day yesterday! Spent the afternoon with Lee and Carin, visiting and checking out the small stages a bit.

Then saw the big stage evening stuff with my buddy Putz and his family:

Carolina Chocolate Drops, Otis Taylor with Alvin Youngblood Hart (some of the best experimental blues I've ever heard), then a Sonny Boy tribute with Siegel-Schwal, Sam Lay, Billy Branch, and a blues army of other sit-ins.

Chicago in the summertime is a wonderful thing!

Had a great day yesterday at Chicago Blues Fest with moid. Didn't see any huge name bands but we had a lot of fun. Albeit with a big hole in my wallet. I sure miss the days when you could bring in your own drinks....

You don't have to drink.................

At a blues show? YOu would have been the only one.

This is funny. At the Blues Cruise I went on, one of the cruisers mentioned to the bartender that this group of passengers aged 50+ were one of bigger partyer cruise group.

He snorted derisively.

80 mph winds here at midnight, sirens went off. Lots o' rain, everything still appears to be here. Iowa didn't want my shingles anyway.

Decided to spend a little family time at home before going to Blues Fest today.

Was going to head back in to the city for Aaron Neville and Dr. John, but Iwer may get a crazy storm around he time they go on.

Spent a couple hours helping a neighbor whittle down a bunch of limbs from one of his trees that didn't fare too well last night.

Enjoying a couple of Grolschs as my reward.

Are we in Manchester yet?
