I always loved the call and response at the end of the song with Dickey and Gregg. There is a great story in Alan Paul's book about how that happened by accident.

Thanks for posting.

I thought it was good when I heard it, but the surprise and coolness factor was high so I wanted to her a recording.. I think they did a really respectable job... a cool tip of the hat.

Thanks... I thought this was cool, too.. one of the things I hd never heard before... Warren just told me that in our very last interview before I turned book in.

I was at the show and it was a highlight for me. I thought Oteil, Warren, and Gregg did a great job singing it.

Saturday was a great night if you liked Dickey Betts tunes.

It was a great night, and I loved how many DB tunes they did. When I realized it was Oteil singing, I was pleasantly surprised,

That's some of the best singing I've heard from Oteil.

Kind of makes you wonder, with the band pulling out a lot of Dickey tunes. It's definitely a nod to him, but is there anything else it may be alluding to? Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmmmmm."

If you read Butch's interview on Jambase I don't think it means anything. According to Butch, Dickey was invited to the Grammy thing and to the 40th anniversary and obviously didn't show up to either. I am sure he is "invited" to the 45th anniversary but according to Butch it doesn't sound like he'll show up.

Good to see such positive reception for the return of neglected Dickey compositions.

Now, bring on Nobody's Knows!

I was surprised how good Oteil sounded. I agree it was one of the highlights of the show.

May I also say that that was one of Warren's best solos in years. Tight, served the song wonderfully and not at all self serving. Really great stuff.

One of the only major faults I personally have with this lineup is how infrequent Oteil's singing has been. Every time I've seen him do lead vocals at a show, it has been the highlight of the whole night. Franklin's Tower, Anyday, Turn On Your Lovelight, Manic Depression... and now Seven Turns. He is awesome. Plus, it can only help keep the setlists from getting stale.

They REALLY should let him do it more often. Please.....!

Very well done - Congrats Oteil!

What's wrong with the rythm section? Way to slow, no flow.....
