It's not too late for some of you to see and listen to some incredible music tonight (Sat. 3/1) that will help prime the pump for the upcoming Beacon shows. Bill Evans, frequent and longtime guest at many ABB & Mule shows, and his band, Soulgrass, has been playing at The Blue Note since Thursday night and has two (2) shows left; tonight @ 8 & 10:30 pm. The music has been an incredibly unique blending of styles; bluegrass, funk, jazz and soul, played with great energy and exhurberance by all the participants. Thursday night's shows had guests Neal Evans (Hammond B-3/Keyboards) & Eric Krasno(Guitar) of Soulive and Tim Carbone (Fiddle) of Railroad Earth joining in and contributing amazing interplay on the various jams and solos. Last night's sets featured John Popper (Harp) of Blues Traveler and John Madeski (Hammond B-3/Keyboards) of Madeski, Martin & Wood joining the muscial festivities and contributing their talents. Tonight's sets will feature Marco Benevento, extremely talented keyboard multi-instrumentalist, joining the band. There's still some tix left for tonight's shows and I urge to you check them out if you can. Mark my words, most of the musicians that have been playing at these shows will be on the stage as guests of the Brothers during many of this year's Beacon shows. The shows at The Blue Note are almost like a "dress rehearsal" of the interplaying jams that will fill the venerable Theatre over the next 4 weeks. Thank God for March music in NYC!

We made it to the 10:30 show last night and it was really great. Bill and John P sounded super together and of course the rest of the band is very strong. Danny Louis sat in for a few songs as well. I truly hope a recording was made and is made available for sale, I'd buy it in an instant. Plus - the musicians hang around after the show and speak to fans, wonderful experience all in all. Thanks Geno for sending out the note!

You're welcome. It's nice to know that other people were able to enjoy this great music as well. Thanks for posting and hope you'll also be able to enjoy at least one of the upcoming Beacon shows. If you do, don't be surprised if you get to see some of the same musicians joining the Brothers on stage. Peace out!

I will indeed be at some of the Beacon shows. I always buy a lot of shows and this year is no different. March in NYC has been so great over the past years, no idea what it will be like to be here in 2015 and not feel all giddy about the run of fabulous shows.
