A friend recently showed me an amazing video clip of the original band doing " Whipping Post." He had downloaded it from Kaaza and I chose not to copy it. It was amazing to see Duane and Berry play for the first time on a song I have listened to for 26 years. Do you know if this clip or any others is commercially available ? Much thanks, Marc Kaplan, mkap60@yahoo.com.

Does anyone have a copy of the Filmore East Video from 9/23/70 ? (I was 10 years old.) I would love to send you a blank VHS or CD-ROM so I could get a copy. Who knows if I'll ever be able to buy it. Thanks, Marc

Someone on this site recently was kind enough to share the address with me, send me a PM and I'll share it with you . I downloaded it yesterday. Although I onlly say part of it so far, it's incredible to see the original members!

Someone in Macon made me a VHS tape several years ago that had about ten minutes of Duane-era Allman Brothers footage on it. That tape was either lost or stolen or is in the clutches of my ex-wife. The thing I remember most about it however was that while it did show Duane, whenever he was playing his slide solos the camera would pan to DICKEY! Freaking drove me crazy not to be able to see his slide technique on video. This was a piece of a concert and I'm really not even sure if it was at the Fillmore or someplace else. Sound familiar to anyone?

Yep, it's the Fillmore footage allright.
The camera-man probably wasn't used to filming live music 'cause he's very often filming
close-ups of Dickey while it's Duane doing the solo (and vice versa if not mistaken).

I have the Fillmore 1970 show on DVD. I don't know if it's better quality than the VHS and VCD's that folks are talking about here in the forum, but I am certainly willing to B&P to a few folks if that helps. PM me if you are interested.

On the subject of the 9/23/70 footage, I would guess that, as it was a multi-camera shoot, that there was unused footage available, from all of the cameras not in use at any one time.

Assuming that these outtakes didn't get junked, is it possible that, if ever someone did finally get round to issuing a DVD of this, they could re-edit to better capture the action on stage?

Just a (hopeful) thought...

My understanding is that the original Fillmore footage was show W-NET the local NYC public television station and that it is in their possession. Several years ago, I tried to contact them for information about this, and even suggested that it would make a great pledge drive giveaway, but have not heard a response.

Who knows last year I saw them giving away Grateful Dead DVD's and other dead stuff during pledge week as they showed the concert (I think it was the dead at fillmore west).
Maybe there's hope, that they'll get around to looking into the archives.
