has anyone else noticed a discoloration of the discs?

as in looks like some of the color is missing?

or is it just mine?

I'm still waiting on mine, Do they state the date or dates it was taken from, I want to check my stubs to see if I was in the house.

Yep, did not even notice the "discoloration" assuming it was part of the design which I believe it is.

My copy was waiting on me when I got home last night! Immediately went in the big stereo with vol high! Took me right back to my first Beacon show on 03/14/92! Loved it! Will be blasting it for all on the hall to hear at work today!

i got mine too. still in the box where it will stay until opening night when i give it to my ABB buddy to give to a friend of his who couldn't make the shows. Well worth the $20 to get good seats for 3/26 (Ubalc K), 3/28 (LBalc Center E) & 3/29 (LowBalc C)

Mine arrived on Monday, I have managed to get through it twice now. Warrens production on this is second to none. Great to hear some of these 92 shows in superb clarity played on a decent hi-fi with some volume. As a side note...Does anyone recognise themselves or anyone in the disc tray cover?

I pre-ordered too and it arrived on release day! That has never happened before so I was very excited. I watched/listened to the Great Woods DVD last night and the Play All Night CDs today. I had already heard Play All Night twice thanks to the stream on USA Today's website. Nobody Knows is just incredible. I reinforces my consternation that they neglect this highwater mark in their career.

I already ripped the audio from the DVD and loaded it on the iPod and Amazon Cloud drive. I had the audio from the VHS but this is much better.

I agree that the production on Play All Night is superb. The rhythm guitars are crystal clear so you can focus on the vamping behind the soloist and hear how it all works together. Dickey and Warren (& the whole band really) made majestic music together.

Got mine today, the show sounds great.

Has anyone else had this problem? I tried to rip the CD's to my computer and everything ripped fine except Whipping Post. I have tried several times now and it takes forever to rip the track and when you play it back it skips and has what I would call metallic screeching sounds where it didn't rip properly to my computer.

The song on the CD plays fine, no skips or anything but it will not properly rip to my computer.

Any suggestions, anyone else had this issue?

Got mine yesterday, but wasn't able to listen...so now late to work after an 'extended' commute. I've made it to Nobody Knows. Great stuff so far. I figured it would be like an extended 'An Evening With' and the shows were recorded for that album (and with Ace Doucette), but it stands on its own merits. Interesting that Warren Haynes produced it for release. Tom Dowd gets posthumous credit for producing original recordings.

wow. they finally captured the beacon magic on an official release. Instant lives aside, peakin at the beacon and One Way Out were kind of let downs. I could see a casual fan listening to those and wondering what the big deal is about the beacon. File under NYC hype, probably.
This release sounds incredible. I had memory triggers of that era all morning on my commute in to work. I could practically smell the weed and taste the bad draft beer from before they clamped down on smoking and you didn't need a 2nd mortgage to buy a few rounds of drinks... What a band and era. I love the Winterland 73 release from the Bros and Sis reissue but this is the era I grew up in. I was 19 in 92 and just awestruck by the ABB at the time. I thought 89 was a one off and who knew they would just keep going ?

Fillmore east and Instant lives aside, The WPLJ show 71, the Winterland 73 and now this are my favorite "official" releases of each major line up. Need a definitive 01- 14 retrospective next !

Got my Beacon 2CD & Great Woods DVD today from Hittinthenote.com

WOW!!!!

The sound on the Beacon shows are unbelievable. This is the lineup that brought me into the fold. I hadn't listened to the ABB much before the "Seven Turns" album. I was born in 1977 and I became a fan around 1990-91 and attended my first show in 1993. This really brings back fond memories of this particular lineup. On an "okay" night, they blew most bands away. But, on a "great" night, they were absolutely incredible. Thank God the recording trucks were there on a lot of "great" nights and we have all this stuff now.

I bought this cd today and after a long 12 hour day at work finally got home, had a few beers and gave this a listen.

All I can say is WOW...this sure brings back some great memories from this time period of the band.

Dickey and Warren were on fire, the whole band was playing together and pushing one another to perform to their best. I saw a few shows during this time and this cd captures the moment.

The song selection is great, the sound is outstanding and you get over 2 hours of music on 2 discs, what more can you ask for?

I never saw the band live in the 70's but I made damn sure I saw them when they got back together in 1989.

I know a lot of folks were disappointed with the "Peakin' At The Beacon" cd, but you won't regret buying this one....trust me

Who plays the bulk of the slide on this, Warren or Dickey?

Warren was the exclusive electric slide player for the ABB during this era. Dickey did play some slide on some acoustic songs. Is there a song during this time that Dickey did play electric slide on?
