is it the 25th or 26th? I've read conflicting reports. Is there any kind of OFFICIAL word anywhere? Thanks.

The only official/unofficial word I can find is from a website that says the 25th. But many peeps here say it's the 26th.

May I ask where people are getting info on the 26 the show as the anniversary show?

Site says 25th. That was done before the 26th date was added, but there has been no official change.

Not sure if I am giving out too much info, but I have been catching the 26th show at the beacon as often as I can since 99'. Check out the setlists for that night going back- in 99 it is listed as 30th anni show on this website and I remember Dickie talking about it. In 09 when they were having the crazy guests all run the 26th was the night of no guests and they played there 1st album for the 1st set and 2nd for 2nd set. Over the past 15 yrs there have been some very memorable shows on the 26th, though they don't play that night every year. I also saw that link to a jam article calling the 25th the 45th anni show but I am pretty sure it is 26th. I can't find any info anywhere on where that 1st show was back in 69, that I would love to hear about. Either way I will be psyched to partake in another one this year

The ABB and their fans have traditionally celebrated the anniversary of their very 1st show 3/26/69 on milestone dates, 30 years 35 years 40 years and now on March 26 2014, 45 glorious years. True ABB fans don't need any jive website or annoucement to confirm the celebration that will take place that night. Celebrating on the 25th would be sacrilige.

3/26/1969 was he official date of the formation of the band, not the first show.

ABB gradually formed in Jacksonville, FL in February & March 1969, with their actual birthdate March 26, 1969, and they move to Macon, GA within weeks, in order to utilize Phil Walden’s resources there.

with all that said I am fairly confident the band will keep the tradition going strong and make their possibly last anniversary on 3/26 very special.

I believe 3/26 is the day they first played together; and "Trouble No More" was the first song

This was the intro before the 3/26/2009 Beacon show

" Good Evening and welcome to The Beacon Theatre, 40 years ago TONIGHT Jacksonville Beach Auditiorium this band took the stage for the very first time. So bring it all home, it's The Allman Brothers Band!".
