So last night at 9:35 p.m et they post on Rolling Stone Magazine's website that Warren and Derek are out of the Band after 2014. 36 hours before Beacon Seats go on sale to the general public.

9 days ago I posted about the band forcing you to buy a Double CD just for a "chance" to get a presale ticket....Doing that to the fans, extorting even more money, knowing full well about the band breaking up.

OK, so let me get this straight, you change presale THIS YEAR ONLY with a 1 day notice to come up with an extra $25 bucks for the CD for a "chance" to get presale tickets.

Next, 36 hours before they go on sale to the general public you announce the band is breaking up and this is it for the current configuration Beacon Run!!!!

And supposedly all of this was done in an effort to Keep Scalpers from getting all the tickets

Before it was insulting - but this is a slap in the face of the fans.

Don't give me the "it's only Rowland and Lana" BS. It's the 20th century for gawd's sake. This whole thing just sickens me. It's the most deceitful and disrespectful money grab I have ever seen - and to add the announcement 36 hours before the tix go on sale is, well, f*cking revolting.

This "Sweet Family" crap.........Just call us suckers Lana. We are. Look at my last thread I posted. It turned into a poor Rowland and Lana thread.......You guys jacked us with that Hoky Peach-o-Gram and then said nothing of the breakup.

You guys played the fans like Dickey plays the slide.........I wish I never even got involved with this scam.

I don't feel slighted in the least.

I don't feel like I am entitled to pre-sale tickets. I have no complaints over the terms.
I'm very much looking forward to mid-March.

Just my 2...

So Sko, don't f###ing go. I didn't get a pog this year. Lana and Rowland owe me nothing. They have done a phenominal job through the years and they have my eternal gratitude. I have attended shows dating back to Roosevelt stadium in 1971 and if I have learned one thing, This music will never die.

For the record I hear you and I am not going. You all are still missing my point. Perhaps it reads differently than I meant. If you don't see what I am describing we are apparently not seeing the same thing.

Again, I never ever said anyone owes me anything. I described accurately what went down and my opinion. That is all.

If you think nobody knew until last night they were breaking up you are kidding yourselves. I bow out now and understand I wanted to see them like all of you. That is the truth.

I am in shock I am in the minority - but apparently I am. Adios.

As far as I'm concerned I don't care if it was a "money grab". They do this for the money, and right now money is tough to come by. I could understand if you were talking about a band that goes out and just throws you the same old crap every night. (i.e. The Rolling Stones...now that is screwing the fans !!). The ABB don't throw together a greatest Hits set-list and then bring it around to every city in the world for over 200 a ticket !!

If they cease to go on I will be more than happy to just follow what they do next. I already think the Tedeschi Trucks Band is phenomenal live and can't imagine how good they are going to continue being if they tour even more. I'll see Gregg if he tours solo with friends, and I may finally get out to see Gov't Mule.

Again, music is a business and nowadays you do whatever you can to create a buzz and get people to keep coming to your shows. As long as I love the music I'm going to do whatever it takes to get tickets. I will be going to the 18th & 19th shows, and any ABB show afterwards in New England if they do indeed tour this summer or fall.

Let's enjoy whatever time we have left and don't sweat the small stuff !!!

Folks you can't be for real to blame Lana and Rowland. Put the blame where it belongs! Claude and Gregg! It has been for the money the last 14years! 1 album nothing but covers ticket price out of this world.
At least there was no FAX and that Dickey will be back in the fall. Get a Grip!

Is the glass half full or half empty. Was able to buy four tics to the last Friday night show at regular pricing and will be getting a nice CD also. Then comes announcement re Derek and Warren. Glass is filling up. Need about 20 tics for the last Sat of run. Will cost more for sure but all this has done is build the anticipation of the group going. And imagine how it will be at Wanee and Peachfest. I'm appreciative that the band gave me a heads up a year in advance. Glass is now full.

Wow i cant believe how many ignorant fans on this site, all of you just cant wait to line up, bend over, and let the band GIVE it to you, and then ask them for more! this is the worst money grab and disrespect to a fan base ive ever seen. every broker and scalper had hundreds of tickets before they even went onsale, and the true fans had to BUY a cd to get a presale code, and today NOBODY got tickets. you can tell me the band "doesn't" owe you anything, but actually they do, because without us they are nothing, without us they dont make money. they DEF owe us if you ask me for putting up with this greediness that grows more and more every year till finally its PATHETIC. so keep bending over people, WITH A SMILE! thank god warren and derek told us RIGHT before tickets went on sale they are leaving, think that drove the price up? i mean i can go on and on

I wasn't going to say anything else - but this has to be the most narcissistic thing I have ever read.

kdick

Listen you sanctimonious a**hole - take a look around the forum. Look at how many people got shut out. Look how many people that got conned with that CD got nothing. Re-read the timing of the breakup announcement...

Your little antidotes mean nothing. Does my life revolve around the band? Well, apparently the first week of January it has for years.

Do me a favor - step off of Planet kDick for a while and come down on planet earth and hang out with the rest of the inhabitants for a while. It might help you gain perspective on what is actually happening here.

If you care so little and are so above the band f*cking everyone over, WHY COMMENT kDICK?

You are contradiction incarnate. THis half-assed upper hand holier than thou thing you are doing is played out amigo.

If anyone owes anybody thing anything it's you. How bout an apology for posting like a self righteous moron.

Go ahead and get the last word dummy, I am done with your birdbrained idiocy.

I bought a CD I was probably going to buy anyway & got tickets to the shows I wanted through the pre-sale. I already had my tickets before the announcement. Glad I did, but at the same time if I pissed around and waited till the public sale and got shut out it would have been my stupidity. I would then hope that they add shows which they probably will and go see them this summer somewhere or found tickets one way or another to the show(s) I wanted. I wouldn't go on a rant and tell others they are getting f@#ked. It is a business, some (not all) is out of their control. Stub Hub gets a bunch of tickets to every freaking show out there. Why would this be different? I get why some people are pissed but relax and let things shake out before everyone keeps bitching about it.

Does it seem shady to have to buy something for a code that may not get you tickets, yes but at least it was something I am going to enjoy anyway so I didn't care and I really wanted to go to a weekend show since we went during the week last year. So buying the CD gave me a better chance and I did it without even thinking twice about it. There is so much free music out there CD sales for most bands are almost non-existent. With that said; hell, $15 for a CD I'll listen to hundreds of times. I paid almost the same amount of money for a pack of cigarettes in NYC last year. That's triple where I live. Should I bitch out the whole state of New York for price gauging me or prepare better this year and bring enough with me? Simple choice.

Seriously, calm down. The band owes you nothing. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy a CD or anything. And pre-sale tickets were never guaranteed in prior years and usually not the best seats anyways.

Yes - the "family" talk and "you are loved" stuff is BS...

But if you don't like something, don't give them your money.

Calling forumites names isn't constructive.

A lot of people don't get tickets on the first days of sale. In the past, more tickets have become available weeks later.

Worse come to worst, you don't get a ticket - is that really the end of the world?

I understand the frustration about what's going on, but I don't understand the need to be a jerk to someone with a different opinion.

Some are angry about the news, some are sad, some are unfazed...why do we have call people names if they don't share our view? If someone is posting something angry, pointing fingers...does it make sense to attack them, or ignore them?

The name calling stuff is silly.

Anyhow, I've never been to see the band at the Beacon, but I've always wanted to go. So when I heard the news of the Warren and Derek leaving, I immediately remembered the Beacon tickets were going on sale soon.

I was down in Antigua when I heard, so immediately I set about figuring out if I could get tickets on general sale. I was worried about it being impossible, but that wasn't the case.

I went for two shows, got nosebleeds for both. Would I like better seats? Sure, but I'm in.

It wasn't impossible...I was using public wifi on my cell from a resort in the West Indies..... so I don't understand why people are freaking out, acting like it wasn't possible to get them.

Still, I feel badly for those upset by the departure announcement... I was bummed to hear it too...and I understand their pain.

I also feel badly for those trying to get tickets and getting shut out.

What I don't respect, or understand, is the attacks on other members for having a different opinion.

If you attack someone for their angry opinion, do you really expect them to listen? They are angry, they are venting.....labelling all who feel they deserve "better" as ungrateful children, is childish in itself, ironically enough.

So I'm venting, about those venting, about those venting....see where it leads?

Respect...it's a two way street.

Looking forward to smiles at the Beacon...see ya there!

Just saw this as I have been working my sanctimonious ass off. I know most of the people that got shut out and while not happy with the result aren't at the point of having a heart attack because of it. The fact you feel you got conned because you had to spend $25.00 for a great CD to get a passcode to get pre-sale tix is your view, which from the many that I know on the site that did buy the disc were fine with it.

Your little antidotes mean nothing. Does my life revolve around the band? Well, apparently the first week of January it has for years.

If my little anitdotes mean nothing then why bother to comment. As far as your life it concerned, I apologise for giving a sh*t.

The chances of me doing anything for you is remote, I have however, like most on this site done many favours in regard to shows and tix. Pay it forward they say. As far as perspective is concerned, I would suggest that, like most individuals heading toward retirement, the opportunity to make as much as you can prior to that is common sense. The ABB is a corporation (which by the way Dickey gets his share of) and that corporation employs many people that need to get paid. Many of those people will be losing there jobs at the end of this year and their livyhoods must change. The corporation is not a charity and if the corporation makes a decision that to get a presale tix you have to buy a CD so be it. If ya dont like, dont buy it. Go scalp a tix at the show you want to go to. My perspective is simple demand and supply and opportunity cost. Probably too much perspective for you to comprehend.

quote:
You are contradiction incarnate. THis half-assed upper hand holier than thou thing you are doing is played out amigo.

I dont have the upper hand on anyone and I have not in anyway contradicted myself, and I am and never will be your fuc*ing amigo!!

Skobud,

Seriously?!?!?!
Do you have any idea how much it costs to keep a band and crew on the road for a month in NYC?
Say what you want about doin' it for the fans and the love, but this is, above all, a BUSINESS. Do the math, the Beacon only holds 2900 people. Ticket revenue goes to the promoter first. the band gets their per show fee, merchandising, and a portion of concessions. They pay their expenses out of that. What is left, they get to keep. That is business!

Gregory, Butch, and Jaimoe ain't gettin' any younger, and the road will not go on forever.

Wake up and smell the reality dude!

Sorry, I don't understand your sense of entitlement here.

If someone is offering something that you want, but you are not willing to pay the price to get it, I'm not sure how that is their fault.

It is just like everyone who wants all of their music for free on the internet and they complain when they can't get it, yet the'll spend $600 on an iPhone to listen to the music...

Believe me though, I feel your pain. It's getting increasingly harder and hard and more expensive to buy tickets to any show I'd like to see... but what can you do?

All these ticket brokers selling tickets to EVERYTHING, well over price of what getting tickets on your own would be. People not buying music, but downloading it illegally or for so cheap. I'm not really sure how any musicians can survive. And every time someone else goes onto a website and blames the musicians, I feel like we're not going to have any musicians left to enjoy...
