I don't know how many of you noticed this in the Peach-o-Gram:

"Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre 1992

In order to have a try at the 2014 Beacon Theatre Peach Corps pre-sale, the
band is asking you to pre-order this 2 CD set from Hittin’ The Note. We
believe this will also limit the number of pre-sale tickets that get into
the hands of scalpers instead of Peach Corps fans.

PLEASE NOTE: Purchase of the Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre
1992 2-CD set does NOT GUARANTEE you a seat in the pre-sale. Pre-sale
tickets are limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’re a
fan, we know you’ll love the CD’s, and you should pre-order them even
if you can’t make the Beacon. If you don’t want the CD’s but want
Beacon tickets, just wait for the public on-sale. Easy."

Easy, huh? So we have until tomorrow to pre-order this double CD just to get the chance of getting tickets on presale? What about the people who cannot afford to buy a double CD at the drop of a hat? They just get screwed I suppose?

This is repugnant. I certainly can't be the only one of the "faithful" that is pissed off by this. I don't even know what to say about this. I have seen Gregg and the boys 28 times since 1992 and never felt as screwed by the band as I do right now. Forcing us to buy a double CD just for a chance at getting presale tix? Forget it.

We always preach family, family, family here and this is how ABB treats their family? Bullsh*t. Not cool at all.

What a bunch of BS. You have to buy the CD and it doesn't even guarantee that you will get tickets. A blatant money grab and nothing else. I love the brothers but this is getting ridiculous.

Yeah, but I don't see a soul on the Guestbook (except me) bi%%hing about it. Reminds me of a recent movie, we should call it the "wolf of peach street". That does ensure I'm not spending a grand to go to NYC to see them (not that I haven't had a blast in the past) but to have to add another 30 or 40 bucks to the cost just for a fairly limited hope of getting tix is pretty low brow. Hell I can get a ticket to see Kenny Wayne Shepppard at the Canyon Club and don't have to fly, rent a car, pay for a hotel etc.

This is truly a disturbing trend. All we can do is to let whoever thought this was a good idea that WE DO NOT LIKE IT!!!!!!!!

The tickets and attendant expenses are already expensive enough!

I wonder if the band even knows about it....

I am also annoyed by this---enough to come out of lurk mode to post it. WTF, ABB? This is extremely uncool. Ruined my day too -- and I've half a mind to boycott the Beacon run as a result.

Anyone else, or are we the only six people who disagree with this shakedown?

I totally agree, a money grab and let us not forget about the "premium ticket packages". I love the band and all the talent on stage but will cut back on number of shows. Walked out of the Beacon at 1am Monday night for $93 and 3 plus hrs of Govt Mule!!

What guestbook?

I'll take my chances with the public on sale. I'm quite unhappy with this.
The only redeeming point for me is that I live in walking distance from the Beacon, otherwise I'd be done. For $177 per ticket we should be getting that CD for free.

First off, I do think it is a money grab, but at least I'm getting good music for my money.

Second, I bought the CD's. If buying the CD's limits the number of people who use the presale as an opportunity to buy good seats and immediately list them at ticket resale sites for high prices, I am all for it. If the scalpers still get most of the good seats and the CD sale does nothing to solve that problem, than I am opposed to continuing the practice of having to buy something to be eligible for the presale.

BTW, Hittin' the Note Staff, how about some travel type coffee mugs, I already have the porcelain, but could use a traveler.

I'll wait and see before I condemn anyone.

Be safe.

Very disappointing. If its about the money, which it likely is, they should have just increased ticket prices by a buck or two instead of insulting loyal fans. And I doubt this new approach is going to scare away brokers, it may now give them more seats to choose from.

I am living in Hamburg/Germany. I agree with you. A fight against `ticketbrokers´ is necessary but to sell an
old record without a presale guarantee is absurd and ridicolous. The concerts of Gov`t Mule, Warren Haynes
and Derek Trucks here in the last two years costed not more than 50 Dollars for all (no seats) and you can
buy tickets at the concerthall or in special ticketshops everywhere.
Nevertheless me and my best friend are planning Beacon 2014 for about 10 days. Taking holidays, booking
flights and hotel is difficult when you are not sure at the dates or tickets. So we bought this `new´disc
for increasing our chances- sorry. In Hamburg I would boycott this .
Hope to see you in March!

Yeah there is no way this is the "deterrent" to scalping. Not good ABB. Not good.

So I'm a new member to this forum but a lifelong fan of the ABB. I didn't get an email but if what I'm reading is correct, I'm underwhelmed. I have seen the brothers many times but was looking forward to the 45th run at the Beacon. I can't believe there's a requirement to buy a CD to get the chance to get seats! Seriously, this is shameful people!

Agree with everyone on the money grab here. Surprises me that the ABB would do this. What is more galling is that the email goes out on Jan 1 for a Jan 2 pre sale. I don't know if anyone else has had issues with the website to purchase the CD but it will not accept my password to buy the CD which I am only purchasing to get the pre sale code. Hitting the Note customer service doesn't open until 10 tomorrow when pre sale starts and they state " call as emails are not routinely read". Screw it. ABB loses my $$ this year.

It is a sad decision to sell the CD`s and I will be among those without the presale code. Perhaps selling this years T-shirt or hat may have been a better choice. Come on guys you're better than this.

truly disturbing, and on a day I was actually excited to see the Peach-O-Gram! Bad enough that the Dolan's & Cablevision have jacked up the ticket prices to insane levels, but to add this premium on top of it. I love how they claim it's to help stop the scalpers, when the whole point of the check/double-check on the peach corps is supposed to stop that!

What happens when they announce the added 5 shows, there will be since that's the week of the anniversary, and the whole point of going this year!

happy new year

I know it sucks, but if they think it will help against scalpers, it's worth a try. Have you ever taken a look at stub hub? How could there possibly be so many tix on there. They certainly could not have come from fans

I'm looking at it like this:
Many artists/bands charge $50 & more to join their fan club and possibly have the opportunity to purchase tickets during a presale if the artist/band is actually touring that year.
This website has never charged anyone to join & participate. People have worked very hard for years to bring us this opportunity.
The scalper problem gets worse every year. If this helps then it's a small price to pay.
Just my opinion

After my first post in this thread, and purchasing the CD's to get into the presale, my wife reminded me of one problem.

I have a Funeral to attend at 10 am tomorrow, and then I have to drive into Brooklyn to attend the wake of a good friend. Guess I'll be out of luck by the time I get home or have access to a computer. Just the way things have been going for me lately.

Be safe.

If they were so concerned with scalping a simple solution is to make all peach corp presale tickets will call only. In addition, you have to have your entire party with you and once you pick up your tickets, you must go into the theater and not back onto the street.

I've been to plenty of shows where they did this, don't know why the ABB can't do it.

I'll let you know at 10am EST if I think it's a good idea or not.

I see AmEX does not have access to tickets until Friday 1/3.

If there are a sufficient number of GOOD tickets available in pre-sale, then I think they may have found a way to combat the scalpers.

I don't mind a small price inconvenience to know I have the peace of mind of getting my tickets for Face Value.

After several years of terrible pre-sale seat selections, I no longer participate. I wait for the regular onsale date to see if I get lucky. That said, the last 3 years, I've attended the beacon run by buying tickets released about 48 hours prior to the show. I have been able to pull amazing seats by taking this tactic. I'll look to do the same this year.
