I should say that I wrote (and didn't just read) "there are indications" about Oteil playing with the ZBB in 2014. No surprise that he isn't playing with them on their next 17 gigs.

I surely didn't write that I knew that Oteil has become a full time member of the ZBB. I did read "there are indications" and "if he decides" "would be" and "might just be an interim gig" as relates to Oteil touring with the ZBB in 2014. Not sure the harsh condemnation is warranted.

Well I certainly did not write anything with the intent of a harsh condemnation of you. Seeing Zac already has a date scheduled smack in the middle of March my intent would merely be slow down the rumor train a little. I have tix to see Zac in early December so I will see them soon enough.

I am surprised that I never had seen any discussion of the project early this year that Oteil did with Coy Bowles from ZBB, Charlie Starr from BBS, Paul Riddle of course from MTB and Benji Shanks and Barry Waldrep. Not sure if anything much will ever come of it.

What do you think the pay is for one gig with ZBB, ABB, and TTB?

I think that's a bit more complex to answer that simply. I'm sure the number of gigs with the ABB affects his compensation, but I'm 99.9% certain the ABB also has him on the equivalent of a retainer (not sure they call it that, or a salary or what). I'd bet dollars to donuts that Oteil receives what the rest of us might consider a very nice annual income if the ABB does zero gigs in a given year. If the ABB tours, he gets a lot more. No clue how the TTB pays their bandmembers, but considering they typically play smaller venues at a lower ticket price (not always) and have a dozen or so bandmembers, and Derek's prior EconoLodge comparison, I'd have to think it's quite a bit less. ZBB? Who knows. I'm sure it pays quite well, but they certainly don't have to have an Oteil playing bass for them.

I think a lot of people think Oteil with ZBB is indeed a go because some media outlets reported it before quickly yanking it. It seems like a definite but some media outlets may have reported it before they were supposed to. But a lot of future conditional tense language until it's official.

Cool. Didn't notice Oteil on the TV. He didn't get much air time but way to Go Otiel and thanks for the link.

Yes, Oteil is playing on the next ZBB album. And there are indications he will be touring with them. Not sure if this means he is officially "joining" the ZBB or not.

Which indications are there? There's not a word about Oteil on the Zac Brown Band website which appears to be "up to date". Just wonderin'...

Jambands.com posted an article a couple of weeks ago that Oteil would be touring with them. An hour or so later they removed the article. I'm guessing they released the news too early and ZBB is waiting until closer to the new album to announce it.

Wonder if Oteil will be with ZBB for the New Years run. If so I might have to get tickets for the New Years Day show. Trombone Shorty is the opener and that sounds like a great night of music with or without Oteil

No jambands DID NOT release any such info that Oteil would be touring with Zac Brown. That is absolutely not correct. They released the letter that jamcruise sent informing people that Oteil would not be on the cruise because Oteil would be joining the ZAc Brown Band in the studio in January for the recording of a new cd. The use of the term Oteil would be joining the Zac Brown Band is what raised questions. I posted the article that day before JPB later posted the same one.
