Ry Cooder
Chuck Leavell
A duet with Bonnie Raitt....Jackson's .."Sleeps dark and silent gate"
A Duet with Macy Gray... "What's love got to do with it"

Larry Campbell would be perfect - the dude plays guitar, fiddle and mandolin all equally well. Love his work with Dylan, Phil Lesh, Levon and recently with the Black Crowes. He's one of my favorite musicians, period and would be stupendous on a Gregg solo album. I also loved when Gregg sat in the Dave Matthews Band and did "Mlissa" with them a couple of years back. It was different for sure but in a good way. Not sure how Dave would fit in with Gregg on a solo release, but when two gracious, talented guys get together and their hearts are in the right place, good things are bound to happen.

Keep it simple.... I dont like those albums that have a name guest on every track. Keep it consistent with familairity of a good backing band and bring in strong songwriter/musician who can help write in Greggs style of music.........Doyle Bramhall II.

I dont mind a few guests but keep it low.

GREAT idea! Next question: Has anyone heard who is on board to produce this record? I wonder if it'll be T-Bone Burnett again. Since Gregg was very comfortable working with him last time I have to wonder if he's getting the nod.

It would be really cool to hear a couple of duets between Gregg and any good female vocalist on the record.

Well, Dickey Betts. Obviously it ain't likely, but how sweet would it be to pop a new Gregg disc in and hear an acoustic blues with Gregg and Dickey harmonizing?! Ah well.

Mick Taylor. Derek Trucks. Those guys would certainly do.

I can only hope that Gregg goes back to Jack Pearson for the guitar work man their older live tapes are killer...

Whatever he does will sound awesome, if he thinks it's worth putting out -- LCB is some listen -- just an awesome Gregg CD -- getting all those Laid Back musicians like Chuck, Tommy, Randall, Jaimoe et al together for a cut or two for his next one, would be the Tops

I think I've seen interviews where Gregg mentioned T-Bone, but ya know how that goes. By the way I meant to include Scott Boyer on the original list. Wouldn't want to skip that great writer & musician.

a band with Chuck Leavell, Oteil, Jack Pearson, and "Frown" on drums

Gregg on acoustic guitar a bit.

maybe some horns, strings on select cuts ala Laid Back

that would work.......

a minor request analog recording, then tape straight to vinyl, that isn't asking much
