Has anybody ever orderd something from Hittin the Note, and had a problem with it? Did they ignore you like they have ignored me? I thought I would support the cause, so I ordered that powder blue ABB golf shirt, which I thought was nice, and I liked it when I got it, however when I washed it the first time before ever even wearing it, when I took it out of the dryer, the bottom hemline was unraveling. My wife looked at it, and she believes it was sewn defectively in the first place- the machine missed sewing it properly. So 8 days ago I sent an email to CustomerService@hittinthenote.com (see below), and requested an exchange. It was pleasant and respectful. After 4 days, no response, so I sent this one: "Really? You send me a defective shirt, and then here we are four days later and you still don't have the decency to respond to my email? That's pretty pathetic." Not as nice, but I don't appreciate being ignored. So, if you're thinking of ordering something from Hittin' the Note- buyer beware.

Original email: Sent: Saturday, September 28, 2013 2:01 PM
Subject: Problem with my merch

Hi Joe. I received my Baby Blue XL ABB Gof shirt, order number xxxxx, cust. ID xxxxxx. Love the shirt. Unfortunately, when I washed it prior to wearing it the first time, the front seam unraveled, and it's coming apart. I'd like to request a replacement please. I'll certainly return this one to you as well. My suggestion would be for you to send me the replacement with a return postage sticker, and I'll slip the defective one in the pouch and return it. I'm a long time Brothers site participant (Chitown), and I buy stuff from you guys on going, so you have no worries about my integrity towards the return. Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you,
Patrick Kinsella

Any thoughts?

You asked, so....

"Not as nice?" You think? Your email that could have been not delivered, innocently missed or received with a response that is imminent.

I think the appropriate second email would have been "I'm not sure if something happened with my message, but I am following up with my email from a few days ago. Let me know as soon as you can about the exchange (merch was defective). Thanks!"

This is a business Tim isn't it? I did not get an error message from either of my emails. You saw where I sent them. I don't think the word pathetic is exactly scalding. But why after 8 days and two emails to the correct email address, would he not have the courtesy to reach out? I didn't leave it on my post, but I also included my phone number. This is 2013, any small business man I know has an iPhone or Android that has their email linked in. Also, I have to assume there is more then one person "minding the store". Shoot me back an email or call me "Hey, I'm busy, but I'll get you taken care next week" or whatever. So I disagree. I think the "service" in the customer service is lacking here. It's not like I sent an email every day. I waited a reasonable amount of time.

Hey Patrick I've got to agree with you. It is a business. A timely response to an email is essential to garnering loyalty and return business from one's customers.

Have you still not heard anything? What is this... ten days later? I'd call my credit card company and request a charge back.

Yeah, I don't want to go that route Billy. I even feel kind of bad for losing my patience with the second email. It's just frustrating to be ignored. It's just bad form. But I would just like a reasonable explanation.

Hey Pat ... I noticed you commenced your email "Hi Joe", so I assume that you were addressing Joe Bell. For the past couple of weeks Joe and his wife Vicky have been celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary with a vacation over here in the UK, so that may have something to do with the late response.

Call them on the phone, the next best thing to showing up in person.

Good luck with that.

HTN's customer service can be great or non-existent depending.

I ordered a shirt one summer and didn't get it until mid-November.

Got a lot of excuses along the way.

I waited longer than you to finally get someone to deal with it.

Everyone thought someone else had handled it.

You're Doin business with Hippies. You gotta take that into consideration. Whatever that may mean.

This ain't the GAP man you're not dealing with YUPPIES. If you were dealing with yuppies , the 2nd email would be perfectly appropriate.

You should try communicating a little more like them. Say "It's Cool Man" alot or "Dude". "Brother" is best. Also you have to say "Peace" at the end.

I hope this helps

I guess you all forgot how they handled the auto pen signed Gregg book that was sold and advertised as autographed?

That's funny as hell. I've ordered a bunch of stuff through the years w/ no problems other than some broken sprockets on some cd's that I just replaced with jewel boxes of my own. Not worth the trouble, even though they offered to replace, packaging was too tight.

Not sure why but I just got the new edition of HTN even though my subscription has lapsed. Got the Brothers & Sisters issue after purchasing the Duane box set , guess this is an added bonus?

Anyway, no complaints here. Happy anniversary!

Hi Patrick,

Sorry we haven't responded to your e-mail!
Today is my first day back in the office and we had a reduced staff while my wife and I were out of the country (England) to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We certainly were not trying to ignore you! If the product is defective you are welcome to return it for an exchange or refund.

JCB - if the Duane Box was delivered after the release date, we gave a free one year subscriptions as compensation for the delay...enjoy!

Thanks Joe. Got Nancy's email, and sent the pictures. I'm sure you'll agree. Leave it to me to try and contact someone when they are out of the country, although an "Out of Office" automatic reply would have been a good idea to have in place, in which case I would have patiently waited. Just a thought.

The original era hippies, yes. With the possible exception of the smell of peanut butter that permeates from a given parcel, I've never had a problem either. And they are more inclined to practice that whole bathing regularly thing, unlike the young hippie wanna-be Dead/Furthur following twirlers that stink and are annoying. But they don't really count, right?

Too funny about the "hippie thing!" We do feel lucky that we have a chance to impact people in a positive way with the products we offer. We also truly believe in peace and love, compassion and understanding. We absolutely accept constructive criticism and want to do the best for you that we can...

Patrick you are absolutely right about the out of office message. I put it on my work e-mail but not on the customer service one. I had hoped our part timers could keep up with the e-mail but clearly we didn't....so sorry for the aggravation that caused!

For those keeping score... I never meant to suggest that there is anything wrong with Hippies or doing business with them. The point was that communicating with them in way they can relate too might be better than sending snarky emails.

Now I think to be PC I'm supposed to say, "Some of my best friends are hipppies". Or, "I once dated a hippie." Even better, "I too used to buy T-shirts from hippies"

My Favorite Hippie was Al Sleet the Hippie Dippie Weather man.

"Tonights forecast........Dark.

Continuing Dark until morning when we will begin to see widely scattered light.

Now if you look at our weather map you will see...... we don't have one. But try to imagine it if you will, with lots of lines & colors....."

The thing that made him so funny is that there were so many actual weather forecasters nearly like that.

My favorite, if he even counts as a hippie, is The Dude.
