Awesome!

As rough as that is I'd watch it a thousand times before I'd watch the Fillmore East video again.

Thanks! Made my good ol Sunday morning.

Ghosts of music's past, very fitting.

Derek Trucks, thank you for your dedication, you bring joy to those who need to have 'that feeling', as only the ABB can do it. You have carried Duane's legacy into the 21st century & into its 45th year.

The road goes on forever...

I may be mistaken but I think these clips are from the Schaefer Music Festival in NYC in 1971.

It is great. Were they playing Piedmont in '71? Because they clearly began OWO and were in the middle of Hot 'Lanta when the tape ends......

yes , you're right , that's the Schafer stage in N.Y.
Great little clip though , reminds you of the dynamic
chemistry that the band had . There is another clip
out there of Done Somebody Wrong , and you can
see Duane just bouncing as he plays those slide parts
on the SG . Great stuff .

Yup, I can remember acquiring this via "snail mail" back in the 80s..... Answer an ad found in the back of a magazine, write a letter asking for the catalog......

There's some great stuff out there. Years ago the Big House had a clip with Duane in Peacock Shirt playing Every Hungry Woman. This was live, not a film with the studio overdub of the song. Somebody mentioned it was studio on top of silent footage...it was not the studio EHW . ( The NY piece posted here was great, and took a lot of work to put together from silent footage and the taped show) .
OK, this clip I mentioned is most likely part of something more and better, and most likely if somebody wasn't haggling over some legal matter or a price it would be out there for viewing.

If this is from the Shaefer Music Festival shows in Central Park then there is one issue. The video I've seen shows the band doing Hot 'lanta with a live audio performance patched in . However, neither setlist from the two shows includes a Hot 'lanta performance. The circulating audience tapes have pretty good continuity so what gives? Seems to be either it is not Central Park or not Hot 'lanta that the band is actually performing.

unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying the late show has Hot Lanta and OWO.

Comparing late show setlists between the database and what I have on CD there is a discrepancy. Like the early show the late show I have begins with the standard 5 slide/blues songs from that time done in their typical order. Very unusual to see a Hot 'lanta opener (did this ever happen in the Duane era?) then followed by OWO and then Trouble No More on the database setlist. Odder still, Liz Reed follows. From Liz Reed onward the two setlists match. Altogether seems like a very unlikely set order for the time.

As this is so messed up it could be that the taper had issues and put together what he could from what he had. Hot 'lanta might have even been a second encore that did not appear on my copy of the show. That would make some sense of the whole situation. From the video it certainly appears to be Hot 'lanta. The band did do Hot 'lanta as an encore at the early 9/19/71 Stony Brook show. I was there.

Anybody else have a copy of the Central Park late show and care to comment?

Searched around the internet for more on this show. The setlists there are pretty much in disagreement with what is in the database. This also includes Hans' very thorough Duane Allman site.

well, this explains a lot! I knew Id seen the Brothers at a Shaefer Fest in Central Park, at least once, when I asked Kirk why it was missing from one of the anniversary t-shirts , I think the 30 year anniversary , he answered because they never played Shaefer Fest way back when.

It may be that when they were archiving, there was a mix up as there is here, and the Shaefer Fest was not yet acknowledged..either way, I knew I was there, and is it no wonder I still love this band, look /listen! they're phenominal!

Dang Id love to hear Kirk weigh in, I miss him and Kirsten, they were always so kind and welcoming to every "Pilgrim" ( I remember Kirsten the first time we knocked on their door, calling to Kirk, "we have Pilgrims " , she 's such a sweetheart ) that knocked on the door of the Big House , even unannounced.

anyway, for the 2 cents its worth , Have a great day Peachies..

Very Cool!

Definitiely from 71 but I see another problem with 7/21/71. Wasn't DB's hair pretty short in pictures from 6/27/71? If I recall correctly (and I may not) no way it grows that much in less than a month.

This is the photo taken from the inside album cover of Anthology II...The clothing (DA, DB, BO) and backdrop (stage) seem to match the ending of "Liz Reed" at the beginning of the clip...

I have an old bootleg called "New York City Blues" The music is from the WPLJ Broadcast from August 1971 that circulates quite widely. However, the photos on the cd insert show the band playing on a stage with a Schaefer Music Festival banner. Clearly they played the Schaefer Music Festival at some point.
