I have no idea what songs were played yet. Pictures of Dickey sitting in with TTB are sprouting up all over fb.

Blue Sky and Liz Reed is what is posted on TTB's Facebook page.
They have pictures but no video.
Duane played with them as well.

Well this is an interesting turn of events. Hopefully some audio/video will show up.

I wonder if this will ruffle some feathers in the ABB camp.

I don't see that it will. If Derek and Dickey get along fine and want to trade some licks, why should anyone in the band who does not get along with Dickey care less? This is a great gesture by Derek.

Probably beyond hope that he would pop up in Richmond next week...

I think it's a great gesture as well, but that doesn't mean some people who are overly bitter about Dickey won't at the very least raise an eyebrow about this news. It shouldn't bother anyone, but I get the feeling it might.

Too bad Gregg and Claude aren't the class act Derek is. Thank you Derek...

This is amazing news if true. And I have no doubt that Derek got Gregg's blessing before he did it. No way did Derek do this without it.

Because Derek is still a member of ABB. Not that it was required, but I bet he asked for his blessing just out of respect.

Derek does not need anybodys blessing to do anything. Whatever Derek wishes to do Derek can do.

I doubt he asked for anyone's blessing on this. It's his own band.

Again, I don't think Derek needed it, but I bet he told Gregg beforehand.

Its the TTB not the ABB. Derek and Susan can do and play as they please. Derek was not a part of the stuff between Dickey and the ABB, thats the 3 original members call and their call only. Its so cool that Derek does not let that stuff get in the way of the music. No ego's just great music

Derek is employed by the ABB, so I think it is Gregg's business. I'm sure everyone is fine with it...that we agree on. But it is Gregg's business as long as Derek is part of the ABB. At the end of the day, the ABB is a business, and Gregg could make the argument that collaborating with Dickey is a conflict of interest, and could hurt the ABB. Not that this is likely to happen, but now that Dickey played with TTB, and very successfully I might add, it may generate unwanted pressure on Gregg from fans, promoters, managers, etc....for ABB to collaborate again with Dickey, something Gregg clearly does not want. Or maybe he does? Who knows? What if this successful collaboration now sways fans to have negative feelings towards Gregg and the ABB? I don't think it will, but it could. All of these things need to be considered since the ABB is a business, and therefore, it is Gregg's business.

If I was "employed by" GA and he got butt hurt over me playing some tunes with a Living Legend at MY gig?

I would be an EX-employee.

I'm almost positive that Derek did not discuss this with Gregg, because Gregg most likely doesn't care what Derek does outside of the Allman Brothers. As long as it doesn't interfere with the Bros tour schedule, I don't see why Gregg would care at all.
