do you like this current version ? or who would you like to see in his band?

I like scott sharrard, jay collins and Bruce Katz but they are replaceable. Would love to see Jack Pearson in his band again but chances are very slim. don't care for his rhythm section at all.

I like Jerry Jemmott on base a lot ,but don't especially care for Steve Potts on drums. When Jaimoe's band is on the tour, he has had the JJB horn section, in addition to Jay Collins, and I think that adds a lot to the mix.

The current line up is good. My favorite line up had Willie Weeks on bass, Robben Ford on guitar,Neil Laresn keys and Steve Potts on drums. I cannot remember who the horn players were but this line up could swing.

I was thinking about this the other day. I like Scott Sharrad, but this version of the Gregg Allman Band doesn't really compare to any version of Gregg Allman and Friends that I used to go see in the 1990s. Freaking Jack Pearson?! The guitar playing in that band was as good as the guitar playing in the Allman Brothers. He had Jack Pearson in the band, man!!! Who was the .38 Special guitarist he had for a while? That guy could smoke, too! And I've always loved Danny Toler's playing. So, I guess I would prefer any of the three over Sharrad. That band peaked in the late 90s with the release of Searching for Simplicity, and it was always better with Jackie P! Check out this setlist from 94:

Gregg Allman & The Alabama All Star Soul Revue 10-8-1994
Live at the Sloss Furnace,Birmingham Alabama.
Disc 1
1. Trouble No More
2. Can't Turn You Loose
3. Old Time Feeling
4. The Sky Is Crying
5. Introductions
6. Canít Lose What You Never Had
7. Slip Away
8. Donít Keep Me Wondering
9. When Something Is Wrong With My Baby
Disc 2
1. Melissa
2. Midnight Rider
3. Queen of Hearts
4. Stormy Monday
5. Neighbor Neighbor
6. B.B. King Medley
7. Encore: Will the Circle Be Unbroken

I do like the current Gregg & Friends lineup, but wouldn't mind an additional horn player.

Robben Ford definitely added a unique approach to the music. Just because of the approach of the band, I think that might have been my favorite guitarist in his band.

After seeing Jaimoe play with his Jasssz Band and totally impress us on the kit, I have to admit Steve Potts' straight ahead rock drumming was a bit jarring at the beginning of the Gregg & Friends show.

I got to see Jack with Gregg but he wasn't the only guitarist so he was limited, somewhat.

Jimmy Hall in the band was blast in the mid 90s!

I'm remembering with a smile Dan Toler and the "Brothers type of sound" he brought to the GAB.

That was a great night, but with just a few exceptions, was a one-off type show. Pearson may have been the only one on stage that was ever a semi/regular in Gregg's touring band. When I get home I'll have to look at my copy w the band members listed.

I know BigAnn could tell us who all was involved.
