I was at the Beacon show where they debuted this song into Mountain Jam. I thought it was great. Never heard it before til ABB and Mule started covering it. Any thoughts?

there are some hints at 1983 on Mtn Jam Eat a Peach, just before they do few measures of Third Stone, they dont play the theme, but bass and drums do some that quiet break in 1983, where Noel and Mitch play that spacy underwater sounding bit. 1983 has been there all along, waiting in the little wings. Never heard anyone else mention it here, but I can hear the nods to Hendrix in Mtn Jam going way back, Anthem of the Sun Grateful Dead too.

absolutly blown away by it with Mt Jam on 3/8 at the beacon. Just off the charts but one of those things that doesn't really need to be in regular rotation in order to keep it special.

It is my favorite Hendrix song, and maybe my favorite song of all time, ever, by anybody.

I wore a Hendrix shirt to the Atlanta show in a shameless attempt to try and summon forth 1983, but it didn't work

So yeah, I guess pops42 and I aren't going to see eye-to-eye on this one.

I'm hoping they bust it out for Jones Beach on Saturday.

They did Little Wing with Eric Clapton back in 2009. Wouldn't mind hearing it a little more. Tailor-made for a Derek solo.

Jones beach is a good bet to get 1983 since the stage is in the water. Just a hunch.

Also love 1983
Love the whole Electric Ladyland album
That double album got lots of spins at my house growing up.
1983 also happens to sound good sandwiched in between Rainy Day, ... and Moon, Turn the tides.
And I also enjoyed 1983 at the Beacon.
Hope you guys are right about Jones Beach -

... Al

I always liked the song and was pleasantly surprised at how awesome I thought the ABB were at doing it.
