Thanks Stormy.. and thanks Newt.... I'm the author in question...

As publication draws near, I'll be happy to discuss in detail, and I will be setting up some chats.

Just got my page proofs and getting more excited.

BTW, sooner or later, Amazon will pick up more info... but much more now on my site:
www.alanpaul.net

My basic page info:

ďNo journalist knows the ins and outs of the Allman Brothers Band better than Alan Paul.Ē

-Warren Haynes

St. Martinís will be publishing a greatly expanded hardcover version of One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band in February, 2014, to coincide with the bandís 45th anniversary. My goal is nothing less than the ultimate word on the greatest band in rock history.

The book includes interviews with almost 60 people, including all surviving members, from founders Dickey Betts, Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe to Warren Haynes, Chuck Leavell and Derek Trucks as well as many, many other friends, associates and managers, including four of the five people who have overseen the bandís career: the late Phil Walden, John Scher, Danny Goldberg and Bert Holman, who has managed the ABB since 1991. Along with Walden, One Way Out also features interviews with the now-deceased Tom Dowd and Allen Woody.

Other interviewees include: Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, Johnny Sandlin, Stephen Paley, W. David Powell, Rick Hall, Bunky Odom, Don Law, Michael Caplan, Col. Bruce Hampton, Mama Louise Hudson, John, Scoots and AJ Lyndon, Linda Oakley, Kirk West, John McEuen, Jon Landau and many others.

Drummers and ABB founding members Butch Trucks and Jaimoe wrote the Foreword and Afterword respectively. One Way Out will also feature almost 150 photographs including many never-before-seen images by Danny Clinch, Jim Marshall, Neal Preston and Stephen Paley. Uniquely, it also features almost 100 images taken by ABB road managers Twiggs Lyndon and Kirk West. Iím very proud of the art, having worked to make it as strong as the words.

I am incredibly excited about this project and look forward to sharing it with you all. Thanks for the interest and stay tuned for updates.

ďIf you want to know the real deal, read Alan Paul.Ē -Oteil Burbridge

Sounds like a serious document. Something for the end table right in the living room. Thank you Alan for doing this.

Hey, I just realized I missed a lot of replies here... sorry for the delay.

It is not an officially sanctioned book, but was written with a lot of cooperation from a lot of people. Butch wrote the Foreword. Jaimoe wrote the afterword.

I put some more info on my site:
http://bit.ly/19G1rqm

Among other things, almost 150 photos... original art from Wonder Graphics' W. David Powell...

Man, I'm so excited to discuss this in depth with you guys.

I gave my 74 year old mother Big in China after I got done reading it.

She's been enjoying it almost as much as I did.

Thanks Ron. That's cool.

Craziest thing: I ran into one of my best friends from Beijing today on the street of my little NJ town... He still lives there... had no idea I lived here and had not planned on being here. Visiting colleges with this daughter and took a train from NYC to drop her a t a friend's with no real plan of hat he would do tonight...

And it's my wife's birthday. So we scrapped previous plans to order in a great dinner at home and eat, drink and be merry... Just incredible to stumble onto one another.
