It was a fun show! Am I the only guy who doesn't care for Southbound"? It's my least favorite song and they always play it when I see them.

i thought tonight was the stronger of the two nights.....

the second set was great-----keys to the highway had a nice derek solo.....the jam in black hearted woman was well played....and dreams with tommy talton was very nice....

i thought the first night was a touch "slower" and less energy ( i told someone it felt like a funeral home in there on the floor at certain points of the show) but tonight was more energetic and a little more upbeat setlist........

2 Nights in one town and no Whipping Post or Mountain Jam

Probably been a long time since that's happened (other than the Beacon)

They ended Peach Music Fest with Mtn Jam and Whipping Post so maybe thats why they were not played. Southbound with the Juke Horns is nice as well as with Chuck. Sounds like a great show.

Southbound as an opener would be cool, but it's not my favorite encore either. Played with Chuck? LOVE to hear that in any slot.

Great to hear that Gregg is still roaring and that his comeback seems to be sticking! He's been roaring for about a year now.

Yeah. Loved the second night as well. I want to thank JFish for the excellent ticket and making things so easy.

A lot of people in the crowd strongly believed it was the stronger night of the two. I'd agree with that but I'm considerably more caught up in the awesomeness of seeing the Brothers two nights in a row than figuring out which show was stronger...

cubchubby, I'll pass on Southbound generally, too. I've seen some good versions live, certainly, but was disappointed to have that as the encore.

Derek's solo in Key to the Highway was great. There was an awkward fraction of a second where Gregg started the next verse when it was clear Derek was going around another time or two...

A lot of people sat down on the floor as soon as Warren said "here is a new song", but by the end of Dusk 'til Dawn people seemed to be into it.

Watching Derek and Warren play kind of reminds me of this commercial...

I think everyone was expecting Whipping Post for the encore. A double encore would have been sweet, but it was kind of a let down to get Southbound for the closer, especially after that second set. Whipping Post would have capped the night off perfectly.

After the show we ended up by the bands tour bus and waited around for the boys to come out. First out was Jaimoe, no autographs to be had. Then Butch came out with his Moogis shirt on, which made me laugh, and no love to the fans and absolutely no autographs. Then Jaimoe on practically one leg comes off the tour bus and starts doing some autographs and was very animated and seemed to really enjoy it. Derek then came out and signed, took pictures with fans, got on the bus, and came back out for more autographs and photos. What a class act. Then Gregg came out and signed for a bunch of fans and really gave them what they wanted. You could tell he really enjoyed the fan interaction. We managed to get our ticket signed by Derek and Gregg. We didn't stick around for the rest of the band to appear, but I was kinda taken aback that Butch could have cared less that his fans were there and that they would have loved to meet him and get an autograph? I guess that's just Butch.

Anyway, what a grate night of music and friends. They really had the energy and you could tell that they were loving the reaction from the crowd. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Let's just hope the rumors are true and we get a full tour out of the ABB next year. It had been waaay too long between shows and it was well worth the drive.

It's nicer when musicians act like Derek, but I'm basically fans of them musically. It adds a little when we find out a great musican/singer is also particularly nice, but it doesn't distract from my enjoyment of them as a musician if I find out they aren't fan friendly off stage.

I never said it took away from Butch musically. It was world class of Derek to do what he did. There were people there that have been fans of the band for many years. It just doesn't take that much effort to sign a few autographs and show the people that have loved and supported your work a little love back. Gregg was very gracious in signing and talking to the fans as well. I don't think Jaimoe signs a whole lot and even he got into it. I think it had been 8 years since they played the Chicago Theater and I was just surprised that Butch pretty much ignored the fans and rolled right onto the bus. Does it take away from my enjoyment of watching the band, heck no. I love what they do.

Looks like a fine night. Stormy Monday often eludes me for some reason. And Key to the Highway is very nice and rare (I think). Only saw it in '07 w/ Frampton at the Beacon. Hope it stays in rotation.

Think the 11pm curfew impacted encore selection - think it was about 10:43 when came back out. Southbound seemed shortened. Great two nights. From Spots of Time, Tuesday to end of last night they were really on fire. Feel Like Breaking up Somebody's Home might have been highlight from last night. Blue Sky, Melissa, Jessica and Dreams were highlights. Great venue, great shows. Saratoga next week.

Noticed last night that after show in group waiting for band there were people who clearly did not attend show and had color stock photos of each band member and old albums looking for autographs. Clearly taking those pics and albums and moving them to EBay, etc. Shady stuff.

Probably true. I was at a Charlotte show years ago when they did gazillion-minute Instrumental Illness with 30 minute drum solo and came back out with a minute and a half Revival for the encore. I felt a little cheated, as I've never been a big Instrumental Illness fan anyway. I PM'ed Butch on this site and complained to him about it. I know that sounds silly, but I was just wondering what in the hell they were thinking. My point was that if you don't like drums, they could have ended the show 45 minutes earlier and no one would have missed anything. Had I known that's what they were going to end with, I would have definitely left much earlier.

Butch was kind enough to reply, and he didn't take offense to my question. He explained that they ran out of time. They wanted Whipping Post, or at least One Way Out, but had to meet the curfew. It happens sometimes.

Another tune w/out keyboard just doesn't cut it for me - Jessica. They play it well, but the signature sound of that song was based upon piano IMHO. It sounds much fuller with keys.

That is not correct at all. All of the people out there at the stage door after the concert had all attended the concerts. My wife and I were out there too. There was not 1 person with color stock photos to sell on ebay. Most of the people that waited had their ticket stubs or the limited edition posters from the 2 Chicago concerts. There were some people that had their old CDs and LPs. There are no new ABB autographed items listed on ebay if you check newly listed items.

We all waited about a half an hour after the concert and the band members started coming out to load up their belongings on their tour busses for a ride to Darien Lake for the next concert. Jaimo came out first then Derek, Gregg, and Warren. They stayed out there for about 45 minutes and signed everything for everyone out there. They were very gracious and took photos with anyone that asked and talked to everyone. They all seemed to enjoy the experience interacting with all the devote ABB fans. Butch & Oteil came out and did not sign any items or talk to anyone. They just boarded their busses. Mark walked out and not many people even noticed hime. Many of us asked all of them to please come back and play an extended run of concerts at Chicago Theater and they all said they would see about doing that. They had a fun time in the Greatest City In THe World. All of them loaded up on their busses and started the drive out east about 12:40.

Whipping Post was supposed to be the encore, but they changed it, just like they changed most of the setlist that night ..... I was hoping for WP too, I can do without Southbound - but it was a good version.....

yeah...whipping post was on the printed setlist (put at band member's feet) but not played...

that's typical for butch (and oteil)........at the beacon---ive never seen butch sign stuff....and oteil usually comes up with some excuse for not signing "im sick"....

jaimoe will typically sign stuff and hang for a little (he hung out the first night outside for about 20 minutes talking and what not)........

I am 9 songs into the download and they sound great! Appreciate the reviews to help pick out which summer shows to download in anticipation of the annual Beacon Run for me.
