Well, today is Buddy Guy's 77th b-day, and his new album is also out today! I'm listening to it online now and it's really good. At 77, he's still as good as ever. There's a few collaborations on the album with Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Beth Hart, Steve, Joe, & Brad from Aerosmith, and Gary Clark Jr. as well. If you have a chance, listen to this album! Now that I've heard it, I will definitely purchase it!!

i need to pick this up. i listened to part of it online today and its good. even the kid rock song is good. kid rock gets a lot of flack but has done some great stuff the last few years with jerry lee lewis, willie nelson, zac brown band, hank williams jr, lynyrd skynyrd, kenny wayne sheppard, bob seger, slash, dwight yoakam and john fogerty just to name a few.

Buddy is Buddy ... althoughit needs to be said that Tom Hambridge, Buddy's drummer and musical director, is probably one of the best songwriter's going today. All those great tunes off the last few Buddy Guy CD's have sprung from Tom's pen!

My TH & The Wreckage album from the late 80s -- the one with Bad Mood, Walkin' These Streets of Boston etc., I play a lot -- great rocker & Tom is a great drummer/musician

And Imho, well deserved. He's an egotistical, marginally talented guy who knows how to market himself. He's rich and I'm sure in certain markets, the mere mention of his name...sells music.

Yawn

I may be in the minority, but I've not been too fond of Hambridge and his work w Buddy. Soundwise, too slick and polished, and I find his lyrics to be too damn cutesy. If I new more about country music, I'd say he is the blues version of New Country.

And I'm not sure I'd call him Buddy's drummer either. His relationship w Buddy is almost exclusively in the studio. Tim Austin has been the Damn Right Blues Band's drummer for a number of years.

I'm listening to the album now and liking it a whole lot. Some of it reminds me of later John Lee Hooker. Regardless, Buddy's got my house rockin'!

Just saw Buddy (for the forth time) last weekend on a triple bill with Quinn Sullivan & George Thorogood.
77 years old and he still sounds as good as ever live!

Buddys best "complete/top to bottom " CD over the last 20 yrs is "Sweet Tea", hands down,IMHO. Even though it's covers, his interpretations are excellent. I respect what he does and his talent, just not my cup of tea as far as blues.

I saw him a few times in the 90's and I though he was kinda over the top and self indulgent with his guitar playing.

I'll take Hooker or Bukka White anyday.
