Two men marrying, or two women marrying, has no affect on my heterosexual marriage, at all. If it's wrong, according to religion, then, hypothetically, they'll be under God's judgment, right? I don't think the government should be legislating morality, and I am a professed (and imperfect) Christian. I'm certainly not going to judge the "sins" of others, because I sure wouldn't want them judging mine. There's not enough love in the world as it is.

That's pretty much how I feel and believe they should get all the rights that hetero married people get but one small difference. I draw the line at calling it marriage. Use some other term because I believe marriage is between a man and a woman and that's what it's meant for thousands of years.

Point taken, but not all marriages are performed in church. Is a Justice Of The Peace marriage a marriage or a civil union?

Thousands of years? I thought a bunch of those cats in the Bible had hundreds or wives and a room full of concubines.

I only think about it when I read something then I go back to not thinking about it....Has no affect on my life what so ever.

We are either all equal in this country or we're not....having sanctions against any person is making something not equal.

I'm not much into organized religion & really don't find much in the link between religion & this issue. I do understand where others do see the tie in. However I could care less who is married to whom. It's an individual preference. We all put our pants on one leg at a time, and in my mind are equal. I have far too many more important things to think about than approving of or disapproving of someone's life choices. Let people be happy in their choices & be afforded equality in legal rights and in the label of marriage.

I am in this same camp ,any two people can do what they want and i do not think they should be shoved to the back of the bus for it but it is NOT marriage...

I have no problem with gay marriage,I feel they have the same right to be miserable like they rest of us.Seriously ,,,, as soon as gov't gets out of everybody's personal lives(who to marry, how big a soda we can consume, what women can or cant do with their body's,etc) we'll all be happy

I have evolved over the years on this issue. I used to be 100% against it. When I was younger I was homophobic. As I got older and matured and looked around at just how many gay people there actually are I came to the realization that it is not a choice but how some people are born and if people are born that way then they are God's creatures just like the rest of us. Recently I was reunited with a high school friend on Facebook that I hadn't heard from in 25 years. She was one of the most attractive girls in high school and I would have never guessed that she was gay but sure enough she is. Looking at pictures of her and her same sex spouse and seeing the love they share and their joy in being together makes it very easy for me to accept. I also think a home for children with two stable parents regardless of whether gay or straight is better than a single parent home.

As far as the name goes I could care less. If it is gonna be the same as marriage with the same benefits than why make a big stink over a word??? Call it civil union or call it marriage, I could care less.

Are they paying their tax?
Who cares who they are and who they are married to.
Are they double taxed now?
Yes, then ok ,good.

People are born that way. It is not as choice as it is not a choice for us heterosexuals.
It is not a choice for some women to be attracted to what kind of man they are . It is not a choice for some men to be attracted to what kind of women they are.
It just is.

Kids.
Kids needs a two-parent home home with loving parents who are providers ... disciplie if possible . Sometimes thing happen beyond ones' control and the home is a one -parent home.
I am not a parent, but I do not think most people, ones with sense, chose to be one-parent. Alone. Harder to make time. Harder to not have another adult as a parenting partner and more. Income double. I am not talking about people who get Welfare and have this and that kid by him and him and him and him.
The kids don't care if they are being loved and loved with discipline and everything and provided for and everything.

That church in that picture. For them to put that up is really bold and makes a good point.

This picture kinda really pisses me off I have been married once and to the same woman for 38 years it is not always easy, it is not always fun, but for it to work you must take it seriously and work at it ! to many take the easy way and just walk....

I believe that now; I didn't use to. I got an excellent education on the subject recently. I have a friend on Facebook I'll call Laura. We met on the website through a mutual friend but despite living only 25 miles apart, Laura and I have never met in person. We talk quite a bit on Facebook about various subjects. Laura and her husband have a gay son who is very proactive regarding gay rights, is involved politically to an extent. I commented on one of Debra's threads recently regarding gays, "I believe they have the right to pursue whatever lifestyle they choose." Her son jumped into the thread. I'm recalling this from memory but it was something to the effect of, "Rob, this was not a choice for me. I didn't choose to be attracted to men..........it's who I am. I had no more choice in the matter than you did in preferring women." Maybe I was ignorant, but that was quite an eye-opener for me. I told him I could appreciate the education that he had given me.

Mike, I'm not positive, but that might be one of those web generated photos. Don't be mad at the St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church.

Good man, you?

I could take offense at the picture, also, because my mom was married four times. But it's just a picture, and I get what it was saying, and the sarcasm conveyed with it.

GREAT find. Obviously we know where it came from now. Doesn't matter to me that the church really didn't put it up; the sentiment still resonates.
