At Jones Beach I always hope for Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear, something they haven't played at this venue since the distant days of Mr. Dickey Betts! Yes it's hard to believe that the last time they did this at the Beach was in August of '99....... 14 years ago!!!!!!!

Every year I hope and hope, but every year they seem to play it at the venue right before, dashing all hopes of ever getting it at Jones Beach!

Well maybe this year

They broke out Low Down Dirty Mean at the last Beacon run, that was cool -- maybe Good Clean Fun, GOWYLife, SCTDevil's Sea, All Night Train, Nobody Knows or others from that 'era'...

There are so many tunes i would like. My # 1 would have to be Nobody knows. It has been too long for these ears without it.

If they make it out west, it's not so much what I'd like to hear, more what I would love to see them NOT play..

No:
Midnight Rider
Statesboro Blues
Whippin' Post
One Way Out
Melissa
Let's substitute:
Hot 'Lanta
Just ain't easy
All night train
Bad rain
High cost of low living

As I've not had these live yet:

Whipping Post
Hot 'Lanta
Good Clean Fun
End of The Line
Sailin' By the Devil's Sea
Maydell

Tunes I have seen live already and would like to hear again:

Liz Reed
Every Hungry Woman
Black Hearted Woman

Pegasus
High Falls
Maydell
Bags End
Egypt
Kind of Bird
Instrumental Illness
Just Ain't Easy
Gambler's Roll
Loaded Dice
Firing Line

..preferably in a quality sounding venue in the South (not an amphitheatre in Raleigh, Virginia, Charlotte, or suburban Atlanta). Invite good friends w/ names like Chuck, Jackie P, Ron, Bill, and Jimmy along. Record the whole darn thing on DVD..and actually release it.

I'm going with a music fan who has never seen the ABB so count me in the group that hopes they play enough familiar songs for a newbie, including Midnight Rider, Statesboro, Jessica etc. That leaves plenty of room for the deep cuts.

I'd also love to hear them resurrect True Gravity but I doubt. I assume this summer will be made up of songs played at the Beacon this year.

I could play a recording on my stereo of virtually everything they will play this summer. Seeing them perform the songs live is completely different experience. They play 2+ hours and some of the familiar tunes take up very little time. I'd axe Elizabeth Reed & a drum solo (albeit an incredible song but not my favorite by the current band) and we'd have time for all kinds of deep cut suggestions along with some hits.

"Hits"?... The brothers have one "Hit"...."Ramblin' Man"...the rest are a bunch of good tunes that "Classic rock" radio formats have literally beat to death...

Imho, if you're going to an ABB show with the hopes of hearing a tune that is played more on your FM dial now than it was upon it's release, you deserve to be shut out.

Nobody Knows and True Gravity have already been mentioned, but I'll second both. They are both probably the longest of shots, but there really aren't any other ABB originals that aren't already in rotation that I want to hear.

Which is a good reason to thank the band, and especially Warren, for playing such diverse setlists over the past decade or so. There was a time when I had a much bigger list of ABB songs I wanted to hear live. That list has literally shrunk to 2, and that says a lot about the setlist variety in recent years.

I have been pleased with some of the deep-cut covers they have dusted off at the Beacon in the past few years, like Hendrix's 1983 and Miles Davis' Spanish Key, but it just doesn't seem wise to get your hopes up to hear those at a summer amphitheater show. Not likely and probably not a good call for Labor Day in Atlanta.

I want Tim's friend to have a good time and not pester Tim constantly by asking "What is this song?"

I'm in the same boat with most of those instrumentals, would LOVE to hear Instrumental Illness, High Falls, True Gravity, Bag End. and hey how bout JJ's Alley? I've been lucky enough to see Mule do Kind of Bird but i'd love to hear it get the Oteil treatment.
But again I live in the south and I set realistic goals so I''ll be ready for Statesboro, One Way out and Midnight Rider.
